Old test results
The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)

What works

  • Playing
  • Continuing from a previously saved game
  • Voices
  • BGM

What does not

  • Videos
  • Game loses focus when you open the menu (right click or space bar). When this happens, trying to click the screen or use Enter to pass the text won't work and auto mode will be way too fast. A workaround is to play it on a Wine Desktop.

What was not tested

  • Installing (I copied it from Windows)
  • Extras (saving screensavers, wallpapers, system voices)

Additional Comments

I was previously playing it on Windows, but my hard drive failed and I salvaged it to my Linux machine so I could resume.

I tried everything I could to make videos work (overriding quartz, DX9, etc) with no success. Not a big issue, though. There are only 9 videos: 1 logo (SDR), 1 intro, 5 endings (4 of which are very much alike, mostly credits) and 2 short videos that show seawater rushing into the complex. They're in the "movie" folder in the install dir and can be played externally with MPlayer.

Aside from video and that issue with focusing, everything works on a fresh wineprefix, no need for DLL overrides.

by Socardion on Tuesday August 21st 2012, 21:43
I was just wondering if Wine Supports the 4 CD install of Ever17? Forgive me if someones already asked but I don't really feel like swimming through all the posts here.

Videos
by Tom Hackers on Sunday January 1st 2012, 11:07
Is there a way to get movies working with latest wine?
I suspect (by looking at comments and earlier reports) that you could actually play them in past...

Though there are not really too much movies to watch. xD
Opening and something else I believe (ending/endings)?

game not starting
by Ian Eberle on Thursday May 21st 2009, 16:43
i've already configured msacm32 to native and copied msttcore fonts into wine fonts folder, but the game will not load, it'll think about it for a bit then give up.

The game pauses the moment window focus is lost.

Voices
by Philip Nilsson on Friday December 12th 2008, 17:32
I managed to get voices working by using native msacm32.dll and msadp32.acm.

How to play the videos
by fenix0 on Thursday November 6th 2008, 15:59
First you have to install a codec pack, like K-lite
launch the game with -opengl, and you'll have the video
