Hints on running TMF under Wine

In the config menu you need to set "PC1" or "PC0", all above will hide windows and make the game unplayable.

Also you will have to set texture quality below "High", otherwise a map is loaded but does not start or will randomly hang up at the beginning.

These are experiences I have made, so they might not be the same for everyone.

Get the sound working

Get the sound working

To get working the sound you can try to follow the instructions by david96 (modified by Lauri Niskanen)

There may be some music problems after all these steps, so we need a fix for those.

  • Check that you have replaced the OpenAL32.dll as the HOWTO above tells. Use the correct lettercase.
  • Change to OSS in winecfg. This may cause some problems, but it might be the fix, too.
  • Disable the EAX sound effects and set quality of the sound to low on the game settings. You can also disable the doppler effect.

HOWTO
Install HOWTO This game need the d3dx9_**.dll files. You can install it with the guide or placing it in the game folder.

Also you can install this game by Steam using this link. I don't tested this way using wine.

by CHRISTIAN on Saturday August 8th 2009, 8:51
I follow the installation instruction : copy DX dll in the installation directory, copy the sound library. Configure graphics details as low. But when when I start the game, i've the following in the console : err:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_IsPixelFormatCompatibleWithRenderFmt Unable to check compatibility for Format=WINED3DFMT_R32G32B32A32_FLOAT
err:d3d:getColorBits Unsupported format: WINED3DFMT_R32G32B32A32_FLOAT
err:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_IsPixelFormatCompatibleWithRenderFmt Unable to check compatibility for Format=WINED3DFMT_R32G32B32A32_FLOAT
fixme:dsound:DllCanUnloadNow (void): stub

I use wine 1.1.26 on an Intel Core2 T8100 with a GeForce 8400 (driver version 185.18.14). Is someone have resolve the same issue ?

0 fps
by Yoshua on Saturday December 13th 2008, 10:41
Game works fine except for the performance
I have about 0.1fps to 1fps (bench says 0fps)
I've got a AMD Athlon 2800+ and a nVidia GeForce 5700 Ultra, so my hardware should not be the problem

x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers version 173.14.09 installed

I'm running wine 1.1.10 under gentoo

TMUF - No sound
by badger on Thursday November 27th 2008, 11:11
Although I managed to get it installed and running at a great FPS (albeit there is noticable slowdown in some areas of the tracks) on OpenSuse 11 (KDE3.5), I don't have any sound.

I have followed the How-to and I just don't get anything.
Tried each WINE (1.0) sound setting but still nothing.

Any suggestions please?
(Not that it detracts from the playability or anything but TM Nations ESCW was one of my fave games and the music just helped you get into the zone hehe!)

Cheers

openal32.dll
by Ronny Schmatzler on Sunday July 6th 2008, 5:26
Nice HOWTO, but I've removed the openal32.dll from my server, as its no longer needed.

Much more sound performance is gained with this file:

by francis chevalier on Friday May 23rd 2008, 0:17
hi all, i have mandriva 2008.1 spring on my pc and i want to install and play trackmania united forever, but i need help for install directx9 :

"next up is to install a native mscoree.dll and streamci.dll into /system32 from a windows install and set them to native Windows."

where can i find these two dlls ?

and "You can set all the dlls in winecfg under the "Libraries" tab or just set the first dll "d3d8"="builtin" ", but i'm french, and i dunno what is "builtin" in the choices, so, there are 6 different choices, in which line is (if i start at the top ^) the "builtin" choice ?

Thx for your help, i really need it!!

by xtremely on Wednesday April 23rd 2008, 16:17
hi
The game runs excelent, but i hear just some weird clicking noise instead of real game sound.
does anybody have the same problem, because in the test nothing is mentioned?
(tried with alsa, oss, emulation and full hardware, and also with all possible settings in trackmania)

If you don't see text in the menus
by Philipp Ludwig on Monday April 21st 2008, 5:07
...try this:

Open Regedit and navigate to: HKCU\Software\Wine\Direct3D
(Create Direct3D if this key doesn't exist).

Set/Create the value OffscreenRenderingMode with/to 'pbuffer'

Previous Wine Version
by Florian Schnell on Friday April 18th 2008, 5:23
It worked for me with the previous wine version as well.
The issue seems to be linked to some update/fix.
