Additional Comments

For best results, run the game in DirectX 8.1 mode, by right-clicking the game in Steam->Properties->Set Launch Options enter '-dxlevel 80' (no commas). Recommended that you disable HDR and Bloom in-game, and enable Simple Reflections. You may be able to achieve good framerates without doing this however.

Tested using a GeForce 7900 GTO 512MB using 173.08, running in 1360x768 widescreen, full screen. Never dipped below 60fps at any point.

Can't get it to run at all
by Mark Jones on Thursday July 31st 2008, 22:42
I've loaded Steam and was amazed at how well it installed and ran.

Then I downloaded Portal First Slice and it locks up the entire computer.

Upgraded Wine to 1.1.2 and it still locks up. I end up with a chunk of screen on the bottom left and upper right that never gets cleared (background stays) and the machine is locked up to the point I have to hit the reset button. Can't do Ctrl-Alt-Delete, Can't do Ctrl-Alt-Backspace

Looks like a cool game, too bad I can't run it on Wine.
