The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Installing the game with the web installer, logging in, changing settings, character selection and loading the game works out of the box.
In game NPC interaction works as it should.
Chat interface works as it should.
What does not
Character textures do not work properly and entities can be seen through walls. Setting the game to low graphics settings fixed the glitch in character selection screen and select areas (tarantian noble district for example) but not in all (armsman's tavern, tarantian villas for example).
In the tested Rise of the Godslayer content (Grasslands) could not move the character as if the network packets never got through (the character kept warping back to the starting point and was thus immobile). Was not tested further.
What was not tested
PVP, Raiding, starting area, combat generally.
Additional Comments
Tested under quad-core 2.4GHz system with Nvidia 9800 gfx, latest drivers and in 64-bit environment. Game works but with a noticeably lower framerate than in a corresponding Windows 7 environment. Only extra package installed in the system is corefonts via winetricks.
Since there hasn't been enough testing I suggest you for the time being to do these steps in order to produce results.
1) Go with a terminal to the destination where Age of Conan has been installed . (Update: probably not necessary in 1.31)
eg. cd "/home/maniac/.wine/ drive_c/Program Files/Funcom/Age of Conan/" and so on
2) wine ConanPatcher.exe
If you want to skip the Launcher, check Katsu Akimoto 's post below in the comments... of course dont forget u have to update the client :P ; Not Tested with wine
If you get errors about DirectX when the patcher starts , download and install it
Update Note: You HAVE to use the directx dlls to native after last tests. Note sure which dll as i used the winetricks script to set all the dlls to native (winetricks d3dx9)
Same procedure with my desktop Linux PC. I got a new prefix tried it without any modification and it couldn't find DirectX in the system. So i i did $ winetricks directx then $ winetricks d3dx9.
Waiting for new test data by users in order to find bugs.
Future test includes installing the game and running it , whereas as now running it from the windows partition

by ManiaC on Monday November 16th 2009, 7:45
As soon as i m done with work i ll have more time to more more extensive tests and fill in bugs . Many seem to have an issue with graphicals probs and performance
Also because i noticed the slow framerate too, try using shaders 2.0 or 2.x
How to will be updated in the next 2-3 weeks :p
i m a slow poke xD :p

How to skip the launcher
by Katsu Akimoto on Thursday October 15th 2009, 21:39
Hey, I'm not on Ubuntu (Or any GNU/Linux) at the moment, but I noticed that old comments are gone and a previously answered question is here. To skip the launcher, you go to %AoC Install Dir%/Funcom/Age of Conan/LocalConfig.xml
FIND: (I can't have the < and > symbols in here)
HttpPatchFolder AoCLiveUS /HttpPatchFolder
and REMOVE it.
The launcher will no longer be executed.
Patcher Drawing seems to be resolved
by Hallvar Helle on Monday August 24th 2009, 7:00
As of Wine 1.1.25 the patcher seems to have ben drawing fin and still is with Wine 1.1.28 so that issue seems to be resolved. Now hitting the play button Still dosnt seems to work.
I belive theres a way by deliting som lines in a config file witch prevents the patcher from starting when you run AgeOfConan.exe but i'v ben unable to find this info again.
