Playing the game through.
Additional Comments
To install the game, you need to set Windows version to Windows XP. The game runs in Windows 98 mode.
The game works perfect, if you change Direct3D settings in registry or in ~/.wine/user.reg file:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
OffScreenRenderingMode="fbo"
You may have to set GLSL on, if it isn't set:
UseGLSL="enabled"
Tested on Intel Pentium 4 3000 Mhz (HT off) + NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS (100.14.23 drv.) 512 MB + 2GB RAM
The game is English version with a NoCD crack.
Copied this from the Titan Quest: Immortal Throne howto, I (LordHavoc) believe it is accurate for Titan Quest itself, but I do not play without Immortal Throne so I can not be sure.
These specific steps are needed to fully enjoy the game:
On
multi-core machines you need a special bash script to launch the game
with a cpu affinity (keeping it on one core) so it doesn't corrupt
itself (or crash) after about 30 minutes.
In the
TitanQuest directory rename the Videos directory
to something like Videos-dontplay, this avoids the lengthy and (at least
in wine) unskippable intro videos on every launch (note: the videos are unskippable for some people on Windows as well).
Texture Quality must be set to low or you get
missing parts of decorative models (seems to be missing mipmap uploads, since alpha test is on for everything in this game the
missing mipmaps simply result in invisible geometry where the mipmap
transitions occur near the camera).
The game with Immortal Throne
runs about half the speed it does on my equivalent windows gaming
machine (Athlon 64 X2 2.2ghz and GF8800GT), but is playable.
Multiplayer does not seem to work (a major disappointment as the multiplayer is possibly the best part of the game.
Here is proposed contents of ~/bin/TitanQuest for convenient starting:

missing geometry
by tatsujin on Monday July 30th 2012, 13:56
I've had no problem with the game, none of the mentioned problems. Until now.
Suddenly some geometry is missing. For example on the start screen, my characters right lower leg is invisible. And the fire tripod is invisible, only the fire is show.
At first, I managed to get it working by closing all open application windows. But now, I can't get the geometry back... :-/ Haven't tried re-logging though.
All video settings are at "medium" and I haven't seen any difference, better or worse, by changing them.

Crash on launch
by Colin Kern on Sunday May 10th 2009, 6:47
I'm trying to run this from Steam. I'm using Wine version 1.1.20 on Arch Linux. Steam runs fine and it installed the game, but when I try to run it I get the error "The program Titan Quest.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close..." in a message box. I've tried running from the command line, but I don't see any error messages, probably because steams spawns another process to run Titan Quest. Does anyone know how to fix this? I've set my registry keys to use FBO and renamed the Videos folder.
Extremely Slow

Glitches and freezes
by Simon on Sunday August 10th 2008, 8:59
I have some weird gfx gliches (parts of houses missing etc..) and the game tends to freeze after about 5mins of gameplay. I have the 2 registry entries. Is there anything else I'm forgetting?
Direct3D
by kyrlian on Friday August 8th 2008, 10:57
Works fine - no sound (but that might be on my end) - those keys were needed :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
OffScreenRenderingMode="fbo"
UseGLSL="enabled"
Doesn't work
by SSK on Sunday July 13th 2008, 7:39
1. Game installs. But denies to update to 1.30. Just says "Updater has encountered an error". Just at the beginning. Progress bar remains 0.
2. Tried to copy full folder from winmachine where it was updated to 1.30. (It was installed from the same image from which it was installen in wine). But after applying Nocd from gamecopyworld it still wants an Original Disk. (Thougt is works in win with the same nocd).
