Regression in 1.3.29?
by Justice McPherson on Saturday September 24th 2011, 15:01
Was running great, albeit with sound issues, in 1.3.28 using -no3d -doublebuffer. When 1.3.29 patched in, it slowed down dramatically. Is this a regression or did a setting break?

-no3d option and endings
by Sergey A. Tachenov on Sunday September 13th 2009, 10:44
Endings do not seem to work properly with -no3d option in effect. I've tested it with 1.0.7.4 as well as with the unofficial patch v.081229. Doesn't make a difference since the 3d engine is the same.

The problem is that when endings are displayed, some kind of fade-in-out effect is used to switch from one ending picture to next one. With -no3d this effect doesn't work which causes the game to skip over some pictures for whatever reason. This way you get about a random half of the endings you have earned. You can get a different set by reloading game, but you never know when you have seen them all.

A semi-workaround to this is to save game just before the end and then reload Arcanum with no -no3d option - it is buggy, but a kind of works and doesn't skip the endings. But this way you see only the upper parts of the ending pictures. It is still better, however, because this way you at least know what endings you have got.
