NoteTab Light is the ultimate free Notepad replacement and a capable HTML editor. A slimmer version of the award-winning NoteTab Pro,
this slick application makes text editing a breeze. Move quickly around
a stack of large files with a simple tabbed interface. Format your text
to your heart's content. Write with the font of your choice,
fixed-width or proportional.
Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Installs fine, most things work as expected.
What does not
On the Library Bar - When it is clicked it closes the clipbook. The
workaround is to click and drag off the desired library. This happens
on all NoteTab Light, Standard, and Pro. This happens on all distributions of Linux.
When
it is minimized and then restored, a second "title bar" appers. The
Developer says that this is because the application is written in
Delphi. This also occurred on an earlier version of Wine, but was
resolved with Wine 1.0.0. This happens on all distributions of Linux.
What was not tested
Full regression testing was not done.
I have the best success with Wine if I uninstall the old version of Wine before installing the new version.
I
keep a copy of the install for the version that I know works, so if the
new version of Wine introduces new issues, I can easily roll back to a
working configuration.
All the user settings are unaffected by uninstalling Wine. All user settings are kept under /home/username/.wine.
If
you want to try a completely new install of NoteTab or any other
Windows program and preserve your settings, you can rename the .wine
directory in your user directory. There have been no issues that have
required this for a couple of years.
No
special settings have been required to get NoteTab Light or Standard to
work with recent versions of Wine. At one point, we did have to copy
the Richedit dlls from Windows. This was not needed for installation,
only to get text display and actions to work correctly. NoteTab Pro
does not rely on the Richedit dlls.
I have been a NoteTab beta tester for years, see Help. I also have a page of my efforts of testing NoteTab Pro on Linux:

I also have a page with older posts on the NoteTab lists:

I look forward to improving Wine support for all versions of NoteTab.
