Download winetricks by running the following code in terminal :-
wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
Now we need to install some winetricks packages to get Impulse running properly. Run the code below in a Terminal :-
sh winetricks dotnet20 gdiplus
Note that the impulse installer will appear to crash, but just dismiss the error and the installation will continue as normal.

GameStop App
by Tim Gilbert on Sunday November 4th 2012, 20:47
Impulse is now "GameStop App." The app installs ok after running winetricks dotnet20 gdiplus per the above comments. However, the client won't log in - it prompts for a username and password, but then spins for a while and produces an error message:
GameStop has encountered an unexpected problem and can't continue
The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
Googling around about this error message it looks like it has to do with certificate chain validation.
Streamlined install instructions
by Myk Taylor on Thursday November 11th 2010, 19:59
Only
winetricks dotnet20 gdiplus
is required to work. The current install instructions notably omit gdiplus, which as Javier Kohen notes will cause Impulse to crash when you attempt to log in to your existing account.
Note also that the impulse installer will appear to crash, but just dismiss the error and the installation will continue as normal.
Impulse Install
by Tapan Oza on Tuesday June 2nd 2009, 16:18
Impulse not only requires IE7 it also requires .net 2.0. Im pretty sure we can get that through winetricks. I will try an install later. I would appreciate it if anyone else could as well :D.
Until Impulse works, use SDCentral

For now, at least, SDCentral provides the same functionality, works perfectly under wine, and is still available from this link: sdc.stardock.com/sdcentral_setup.exe
