Poor performance (10-20 FPS at best on basic settings), but this is likely mainly due to having an ATI 5770 card.
First of all, thank you for spend your time helping wine to get better,
I will like to make some suggestions to make the tests results more organized to another users.
Put your PC specs at the Extra Coments section like your video card, cpu, and system memory.
It's important to put your video card drivers into extra coments section.
Specify if you installed the game into a fresh prefix (or not), and what programs are you installed.
Tell what version of the windows emulation you use in your wine.
Add a comment about what is don't working.
Tell if you put any official or unnoficial path on your game
like a diferent version of some .exe or a modification on some config
file from the game.
These are just suggestions to make tests result more clean and more fast to be submitted.
Installation
You need:
A recent version of wine, it's recomended the last release.
A video card with 3D Acceleration suport on your unix and the 3D driver installed for that card.
It's not necessary a clean prefix, but it's recomended.
Installing:
This game don't require any patch to install, just download steam from here, install following the steps on Steam page and install the game trought steam.
Be sure that you have 3D support is working, you can check by typing the follow command:
glxinfo | grep "direct rendering:"
It's also recomended to install the following fonts: tahoma.ttf, arial.ttf and verdana.ttf.
The game shoud work fine. Any problem you can see the Troubleshoot notes and post a coment or submit a bug.
Troubleshoot
Bioshock don't Start.
Be sure that you have 3D Acceleration, for that, type on your console the command:
glxinfo | grep "direct rendering:"
The answer must be:
direct rendering: Yes
If not, you have some problem with your 3D acceleration, normally
this happens when the video driver is not working properly. The game
won't run without 3D acceleration.
FarCry 2 trees are flat, 2D... when AntiAliasing is on.
This is a known bug, until now we don't know how to fix-it. Just set AntiAliasing to None in game settinhs.
FarCry 2 crash when AntiAliasing is more than 2x.
AntiAliasing isn't working right on FarCry 2, the best thing is to keep disabled.
FayCry 2 ramdomly crash.
This is related to the Bug #23045, until now, the best solution is to install secur32 trought winetrick. But even for some people, that solution doensn't work fine, the best thing in that cases is to lower the video settings, it seems that lower video settings has less crash, if that is your case, don't use anything beyond High on graphics settings.
General Bug Fix.
Verify if your video driver is installed properly.
Install FarCry 2 on a separated prefix.
Set prefix version to Windows XP.
Close FarCry 2, and reboot wine by typing wineserver -k.
Old Problems.
Note: These problems don't affect the newest versions of wine, it's only here
for precaution, if you have any of these bug's maybe you should upgrade
your wine version.
Game Crash when change the resolution.
On some old version of wine, FarCry 2 crash when change the resolution, to solve that, you edit the follow file /home/(your-username)/My Games/Far Cry 2/GamerProfile.xml and change the resolution there, and not ingame.
