Illustartor 10 cant move objects on screen consistently

i got illustator 9 and 10 to install & run fine on wine, but when trying to drag an object on the screen, the object stays where it is, and a wireframe outline of the object is moved. strangely if you then push one of your arrow keys the object will move into the wireframe. if tried multiple time the app just crashes. also dragging a color from the color palette to the swatches palette crashes also. any help?
