Additional Comments
Note: Wine 1.2 fails to render video stream, it worked back on 1.1 and works on 1.3.6 beta.
Used winetricks to install:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.slingplayer2 sh winetricks -q dotnet20 wme9 gdiplus quartz ie6 directx9
Then install SlingPlayer-2.0.4, it takes a long time and crashes at the end but installs most (all?) of the program to work.
Last, on winecfg audio it seems to be a bit smoother if you change "Hardware Acceleration" from "Full" to "Emulation"
After configuring everything you MUST reboot the computer (logging out or killing everything isn't enough) to make it fully apply everything. I don't understand why, but it works.
Since Sling Accounts doesn't work, to get a working SBProfile.xml you must either copy it from another working computer, code it yourself, or use another program to create one.
Note: every time you open SlingPlayer you'll get an error that mscorsvw.exe crashed, if you ignore it everything seems to work.
The following has been tested with Wine 1.5.26 under Linux. If you are having trouble, make sure you are using the latest version of Wine.
Note: It is recommended that you do the following in a separate wineprefix, so as not to break working applications. The instructions below will do this.
Run WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.slingplayer2 sh winetricks -q gdiplus quartz wmp10
Install Slingplayer (remember to use the WINEPREFIX as above), e.g. WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.slingplayer2 wine SlingPlayer_2.0.4522_Setup-Global.exe. The installer will fail at the end, but is installed.
For remote viewing, you will need to have a working SBProfile.xml from the previous 1.X version of Slingplayer (or a local machine, or a Windows box) and drop it into ~/.wine.slingplayer2/drive_c/users/Public/Application Data/Sling Media/SlingPlayer/2.0/. If you are located on the same logical network, Slingplayer should be able to pick up the Slingbox itself (via broadcast) and this stage may not be required.
You should now have a working Slingplayer 2!
You may need to run WINEPREFIX=~/.wine.slingplayer2 wine slingplayer if the shortcuts are not created during installation.
Note: HTML components (such as the login page and the Setup Assistant) do not work at the time of writing.
Note: IES4Linux or IES4MacOSX are not supported. Report bugs to their maintainers.
Note: As of Wine 1.5.6, Mono is favoured over dotnet. If you are using Wine <1.5.6 then you will need to install dotnet.

Please note that "Clip+Sling" may not be available in your area (for legal reasons).
This has nothing to do with Wine.
