The patcher must be set to WinXP for it to patch correctly, the game however must be set to Win98 for the sake of getting past the hackshield and creating a stable environment for the game.
While I was not able to get past character creation because my computer would freeze after a certain amount of time of running the program, I'm sure with a better computer or other linux distrobution, the game would work flawlessly as long as the user remembers the compatibility settings. I'm running a Compaq tc4400 with a 128 mb graphics card.
