What works

Everything including Shadow option on video settings. This was fixed on 1.1.24 since on 1.1.23 was not working. 

Tested the following again just to make sure:

+ Installing

+ Voice Chat

+ Addons (About 50 of the most used addons)

+ Tested 5 classes including DK + Instances 10 man, 25 man, normal/heroic

. + FPS in most of the places was above 50fps. Dalaran was 35fps-40fps (but with Shadow enabled it was about 20fps-25fps) , 25 raid was around 40fps with everyone doing some magic spell or effect.

+ No crash whatsoever (Most of the crashes that happen in wow are related to the cache folder that people use after an update of the game client. You must clean the folder after updating)

+Tested all cities, all northrend and outland zones and most of kalimdor and eastern kingdom.

+Played on window mode and fullscreen with no problem.

+No sound or video problem in the whole 8-14 hours i tested this.

What does not

+The keys need to be mapped to remove the repeated pressing of the forward/back and other keys. With the xset thingy it gets fixed.

 +Changing the farclip from 1270 to the max of 1590 with shadow enabled causes some anomalies on the terrain graphics.

+Activating shadow option (to the highest at least in my case) makes the fps drop between 20fps to 30fps in some areas. Without this you have a very smooth fps count on any zone, any raid, anything. Most of the time is around 50fps, worst case scenario is dalaran full of people which drops to 20fps-25fps and a raid place full of mobs which drops to the same amount as dalaran.

What was not tested
Everything was tested in 5 PCs.

Additional Comments

For the person that messaged me about how i got so good performance. Sorry i could not answer you via the mail system here but i got lost so am posting this here with the new stuff and the new wine version, which makes the shadow option work.

My PC is a Intel Core 2 Duo 8500 with a dp35dp mobo. 4gb of ram and a Nvidia 8600. I did not do anything out of this world. My step by step guide would be something like this:

1. Install ubuntu 9.04 or whatever you have from scratch. In my case it is Ubuntu 9.04 with ext4 as default format.

2. Add the winehq source for your synaptic / aptitude usage. I mean the software source repository thingy. And the key from the winehq download place. No need to compile anything.

3. aptitude update or synaptic update and download the 1.1.24 that you should now see in your repositories.

4. Download the drivers from nvidia from the restricted repos. I use jockey-gtk in my case.

5. Configure the wine with winecfg, remember to configure the sound to alsa. If you do not hear anything configure it to oss. Afterwards configure the video and remember to activate the option about pixel shader and vertex shader set to hardware. At least in my case this is the best solution.

6. Install the game from scratch or copy it from another place but remember to remove your cache, logs, wtf config and account data.

7. run the game and configure it as you like.

8. You can configure some tweaks to the nvidia card which might help a little more with the nvidia-settings.

Also note, do not activate compiz or any of the those cool graphics effects while playing this if you want to have the most performance with the game. 

This is actually all i do to optimizes this. Run the game from console or a desktop icon but remember to put -opengl as an option like this "World of warcraft\Wow.exe -opengl" so you play in opengl mode. Hope this helps, this is all i do in my case with no problem. Most of the enhancements for the game you can do ingame, lowering settings and stuff like that. Shadow enabled is the one that surprised me a lot since it really takes a lot of the performance out for places heavy on graphics, but omg the game looks beautiful with that. When i loaded the game i actually thought i was on windows xp playing but then i exited the game and noticed i was seeing shadows effects on ubuntu so big surprise for me. Way to go wine amazing job.
