Installing the game. With tweaks (see below), playing the game.

What does not
Nothing

What was not tested
Nothing

Additional Comments

I had to install via winetricks d3dx9 and wmp10 or the game would hang on startup. Also the video display was badly mangled until I used trine_launcher.exe to disable anti-aliasing. Once these tweaks were in place the game works wonderfully.

Sound and dll's
by S Johnson on Saturday July 10th 2010, 18:16
use winetricks to install physx wmp10 and d3dx9_36.dll. All of d3dx9 as specified above is unnecessary and corrupts the menu font.

Sound dropped out after a couple of minutes of play time which was resolved by switching to OSS audio in winecfg.

Trine on PlayOnLinux
by Montblanc on Sunday January 24th 2010, 12:42
After following all the tips, I managed to install Trine on PlayOnLinux, though I had blue textures. I had to run the advanced configuration from PlayOnLinux and choose "fbo" as the "OffscreenRenderingMode".

Fixed

The answer was to run trine_launcher.exe and turn anti-aliasing off in the advanced settings. Game runs beautifully now on highest settings and 1680x1050 resolution.

Background and items only display in a small window.
by Ryan on Friday July 24th 2009, 5:42
Thanks to the tricks above I was albe to get this game to run; I installed d3dx9 and wmp10 via winetricks and it works. Unfortunately in-game environment items (obstacles etc) as well as the background are only drawn in a small box in the upper left corner of the screen. This is very weird, and I don't know what might be causing it. Has anyone else had this problem?

Am I the only one that can't run this game. I've installed PhysX, the DLLs and directx 9 but when the game loads, just after the rose, it stops and gives me an error.
