Additional Comments
I think it will run flawlessly after doing
winetricks d3dx9 vcrun2005 xact
sudo apt-get install libtxc-dxtn0
I also did
winetricks vcrun2008 vcrun2008sp1 d9dx10 d3dx11 physx xact_juin2010 xinput
but kept having a black menu screen until i fixed what I call the S3TC problem (http://www.carbon-project.org/S3TC_compressed_textures_with_Wine.html)
The "classic" graphics are accessible via PgUp/PgDn and not F10 like the in-game help states.
This might be a bug in WINE.

Sound issues
by Christopher Mountford on Thursday January 20th 2011, 14:18
I found that using software sound acceleration instead of hardware fixes the problem with glitcy sound, if this does work the game isn't reliant on sound so you can just use subtitles and the game is still pretty playable.
Sound issues in MISE - Ubuntu 9.10
by Maxime on Tuesday November 10th 2009, 3:40
Hi all,
For those who still have sound issues and have tried all the other solutions unsuccessfully..
I had sound issues running MISE with Ubuntu 9.10, and they appeared to come from PulseAudio (the application-level mixer used by Ubuntu on top of ALSA).
Tried to stop the service (/etc/init.d/pulseaudio stop) and .. it worked!
I'm running MISE with Steam, and the latest Wine development version.

by Sebastian Bremicker on Saturday October 10th 2009, 13:46
Hi, regarding to bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19365 the issue with the cropped screen is fixed in wine 1.1.31, so the scissors patch will not be needed any more.
