What works
Everything looks to work fine except installation
What does not
Installation does not finish.
It is divided in two steps. First one extract installation files (looks to be generated by unrar, some kind of self-extractor). After this first step, it will launch mythic installer. This installer does not let you select any folder as destination (it keep saying it's not a valid folder).
At this time, you have to look at .wine/drive_c/windows/temp and find RarSFX0/data1 folder move this folder to .wine/drive_c and rename it to something like UOSA.
Then you can cancel installation.
This folder has all the files needed to play the game. Just launch client.exe and have fun.
This can be solved for some clients by setting "MouseThread=off" in every uo.cfg (there are many for each character and one global).
Problems running uo.exe
You can safely use client.exe for the game and run uopatch.exe from time to time manually.
Connecting to free shards
You have to disable encryption for your client:
Either you can find already patched client for your shard (browse the shard forums). And you can run it like the normal one (tested by Plague).
Or you can patch the client yourself using UO Rice (some say this can be only done on Windows and before any patching) and then run the patched client. (suggested by sk8dork, not tested by Plague).

how to install on current versions

Just a fyi...i thought it was completely broken and followed the instructions via bug 21650. What was extracted in my version of the installer was the mythic patching program and NOT the entire program ready to run (no client.exe). However, and upon running the patcher it seemed to just exit without error.
I gave up and worked on my computer for a bit, then went to get something to eat.
When i got back...the client was installed. It's not broken..just really...really slow.
