This is the official launch version of the software after the completion of the open beta of Champions Online.
Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
The game works great! Played for several hours, multiple locations and characters.
What does not
Gecko cannot handle the log in and patcher... has to use IE7. Sound didn't work until setting mmdevapi to disable in winecfg.
What was not tested
nothing
Additional Comments
Test results using 1.3.14 because 1.3.15 adds a mouse bug to playing causing issues for me. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26314
Normal Mac issues in X11... using Xquartz 2.6.0 with normal command line Wine for proper fullscreen support, with window decoration and control turned off in winecfg... and Wineskin 2.0 with engine WS7Wine1.3.14 also works fine as is.

I was the poster for the Mint (Lisa) test data. Choosing default settings on startup, even though it may warn about hardware requirements, results in great performance. I get the same experience as the Windows install, whereas at the time I did the initial test, it was slower than normal. I am not sure if this is the result of a game patch, or latest video drivers through Mint, but it is now quite fast enough to play PvP or any other scenario.

Latest set of updates breaks WINE
by Brian Bourke-Martin on Sunday February 27th 2011, 18:09
So my install of Champions does not seem to be working at the moment and I was able to confirm with another person that they were having similiar issues. We are guessing at this point this is due to an update in the game. Right now in I am attempting to get some debug information in order to create a well informed bug to pass of the Dev group.
In doing this I came across an interesting fact, if I add WINEBUG=+relay, while this obviously slows down the execution of IE it also allows for the login page to appear and I can navigate through the launcher (heck it even patched). Although the game crashed when attempting to launch the true game client.
I was hoping someone may have some feedback or better WINE debugging skills that my own. I am thinking that the delay created in the WINE code by adding the relay channel reporting was allowing for whatever threading issue which was forcing IE to crash to pass, but that is just a guess.
Audio missing
by Brian Bourke-Martin on Monday September 27th 2010, 2:48
Has anyone been able to get the Audio to work on for this game? The list of devices in the options menu has always been empty for me. I have tried using OSS, ALSA, and a build of WINE with pulse built into it.
1.1.43
by Marcus Møller on Wednesday May 5th 2010, 0:55
On my Arch Linux the game plays, but the mouse is gone. I think it's because it's an animated cursor.
We've come the step closer though, to be able to atleast get in-game.
I had to install gecko & ie6 using Winetricks to make the patcher work.
Crap Nuggets
by Brian Bourke-Martin on Thursday January 28th 2010, 12:30
Well, since the latest patch (as off Jan 28, 2010) the game crashes at load time. At this point in time, I have tested both 1.1.37 and wine hacks git on ubuntu 9.10. I think the most likely suspect is that with the newest editions of the game, they did some updates to how they were making directx calls which are in the same vein as the original issue.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

Reboots?
by Evil on Thursday December 24th 2009, 19:26
Anyone else get reboots during fights while playing this game?
It may be a bug in the Nvidia 195.22 drivers - but I've been playing this for about an hour now, using the hacks git. My entire system has rebooted twice... right in the middle of battle.
This hasn't happened with any game/program I've used under Wine (DDO, CS:S, CoH, Portal, TF2, 3DMark06...), so I don't think it's a hardware (Asus EN9800GTX) issue.

Steam version?
by Nate on Wednesday December 9th 2009, 17:07
I'm curious for those of you who say you were able to play the game quite well using winehacks were you playing the version purchased via Steam or stand-alone?
Works with some hacks
by Coy Barnes on Thursday November 12th 2009, 2:55
In order to get the launcher working I used winetricks to install a minimal ie6.
winetricks ie6 corefonts fontfix gecko liberation tahoma
I then made a quick hack to dlls/wined3d/volume.c to allow the IWineD3DVolumeImpl_LockBox function to be called multiple times by not throwing an error.
It still crashed because it's trying to use some extended winsock functions that don't exist.
I noticed that a couple of weeks ago, the wine hacks git (repo.or.cz/wine/hacks.git) implemented some of these functions, so I pulled in their branch.
Insuffient drivers warning
by Brian Bourke-Martin on Thursday October 1st 2009, 11:00
I have been running Champions on windows with my nVidia Quadro FX 570M and it gives me the same warning that my drivers are not up to date for supporting this game (this is a long story which has to do with the laptop manufacturer being responsible for the drivers and not nVidia, but is ultimately unimportant). The game runs just fine and for the purposes of WINE, it should be considered a nuisance to be optimized at a later point in time once game stopping bugs have been addressed.
