Worked for a few months but now..
by Jeremy on Monday November 15th 2010, 0:55
Hi, after I installed a while back it ran great for quite a while, but then out of the blue one day, it gave me the error "General Protection Fault". I couldn't get it to execute after this. I've tried installing/reinstalling over and over again using different prefixes and even scripts from Play On Linux. But so far, nothing. Anyone else had this problem and found a solution to it?

Borderlands multiplayer and DC1 not working for me.
by Jeremiah B. O'Neal on Thursday January 21st 2010, 22:14
Borderlands works flawlessly for me. I was able to complete the game and enter Walkthrough 2. The problem I am having with the game is patching it so that I can play the expansion for DC1 Zombie Island. I purchased the DVD version of Borderlands at the store and the DC1 version of Zombie Island from Gear Box Software. I then followed the directions in their email downloading and installing updates.gearboxsoftware.com/dlc/BorderlandsDLC1_Worldwide.zip and updates.gearboxsoftware.com/dlc/Borderlands_Worldwide_Update_PC1.20.zip. I did these steps with no problem but when I return to play the game I see that Multiplayer through Gamespy does not work (it never worked originally) and that Zombie Island (or no new additional places) is listed under Fast travel. Nonethless; the game is a lot of fun for SP. I'd just hope that I could do a Playthrough 2 with new content.

If anyone knows the solution to why the patch might not be working or can point me in the right direction I'd much appreciate it. I can provide additional information if needed.

Thanks,

Jeremiah O'Neal

Disappearing crosshair
by Mike on Monday January 11th 2010, 21:14
Many weapons I'm finding have a crosshair that's overlaid across the entire screen when you zoom in, like sniper rifles and some smgs, but most of the time I get a black box instead of any textures and there's no actual crosshair. I tried adjusting some video settings from medium to low quality and disabling certain things, but nothing helps. Has anyone else seen this? Is there a hidden game setting or something in the wine registry I can toggle to fix it?

Sound with 1.1.36
by Mike on Saturday January 9th 2010, 15:40
Is anyone else having problems with audio with wine-1.1.36? I hear sound in the many startup splash screens and in some of the initial movies when you start a new game, but not in the menu or when actually playing. The game is running well for me with 1.1.33... Good fps with an E8400 and a GTX260.

Multiplayer - Reviving Team-mates
by Erich Hoover on Friday January 8th 2010, 14:20
Has anyone successfully revived a team-mate when playing multiplayer? Whenever I've tried to revive the "revive bar" continually resets back to zero, like the game is not registering that the revive key is being held down.

assertion fail error
by Connor Hubbard on Thursday January 7th 2010, 14:50
Okay so I run Ubuntu 9.10 I just got all new everything as far as computer hardware goes
Specs:
Biostar MC6P6-M2+ mobo
Amd Semperon 2.7ghz cpu
Sparkle Geforce 9400 gt 1gb mem vid card
PATA CD drive and SATA DVD drive
PATA 160gb Hard drive SATA 250gb Hard Drive

but anyways I got everything running downloaded wine and all of the proper winetricks and program files and all that fun stuff and it's all working fine I have dmdx9 vcom2005 and vcrom2008 from winetricks

so I put in borderlands and run the setup file and everything works fine I had to fix the graphics a few time but otherwise all is good so I shut down the computer and go to sleep.

when I woke up I open borderlands (with the cd in the drive) and it goes through the opening movies and gets to the start up page but when I try to play single player I got this

Assertion failed: i>=0 && (i

little bug with wine 1.33
by globot on Wednesday November 25th 2009, 18:26
The game work well after a little tweaking of the WillowEngine.ini file to optimize graphical perf... BUT there is a weird bug with the mouse, it can't stay in the game, I have two screen and if I go too far on the left, the cursor ends in the second screen (in game the view won't turn anymore). The same if I go to far on the right, When the cursor is at the end of the screen, the player view won't turn anymore.

If i set mouse sensitivity high enought I can play a little but each time a bad guy make me a surprise I often have problem aiming at him...

Activation not work?
by Chris on Sunday November 15th 2009, 22:24
I used the Tool here

www.2kgames.com/borderlands/activation/

But can't get an Official Borderlands.exe if the installation came to the end the setup start still the Securom-Check. If i abort, these Check pop up the next time i will execute Borderland.exe. It made me sigh, the game seems to still run with the nocdpatch -_-

Should i email the official support, attached with the ActivationResponse.lic?

Or could wine successful end the Securom-Releasdate-Check? And i have just a bad time....

Installer Freezing...
by Chris on Sunday November 15th 2009, 21:22
If your installer is freezing, especially during the "initialization". Use top or htop and kill the process that "freeze". Here it was amdsetup.exe and sometimes i know that i have installed d3dx9 with winetricks so i send a SIGTERM to the process and the installation will go on. If you have more then one Process like the Securom-Process (its just look like there are two processes.. kill the one with the higher PID. If you got the lower one, the Borderlands-Installer will abort the installation unsuccessfully.
