The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Installs ok.
The Editor fails on first opening attempt and a Wine error message stating the program has failed appears. Elements 8 starts after second attempt. The Welcome screen closes (it shouldn't) and you have to wait for up to a minute for the Editor to start.
I have tried Grants Tools plug-in and that works fine.
What does not
Photomerge functions (panorama, exposure etc.), cause Elements to crash.
If you minimise the Editor and restore it again, the right hand side of the Editor is missing. This can be restored by right clicking on the Elements Button in the Panel and selecting Maximise.
The Organizer does not work properly, files become disconnected.
What was not tested
all editing features have been tested
Additional Comments
The latest version of Wine has addressed the installation problems.

Element 8 install in Ubuntu 10.4
by Peter Richardson on Wednesday October 27th 2010, 11:19
Installed OK on Ubuntu 10.4 and seems to be running ok. Running WINE 1.2
Only thing was it seems to hang on the first install screen, but it you leave it (in my case about 1 hour) it eventually lets you click next and then installs fine. Note this is an install from a licensed disk with a valid licence key.
PhotoShop and wine 1.3.2-1
by james J Catchpole on Monday September 6th 2010, 10:36
I installed the latest version of wine on my Fedora 13 System; I used the Source Tar Ball to install it. However, when I attempt to install PhotoShop Elements 8.0 I get a failure as follows:
The msiexec.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Disregard that. I should upgrade it to bronze. I got it working under those configurations, but it crashes a lot. I was able to save a thing or two though.

Photoshop Elements 8 installation
by Arthur McDonald on Friday August 20th 2010, 15:21
For what it's worth I got the same results when installing PSE 8. That is, the process stops once you get to the screen where you are supposed to enter your country then license key. You can enter the key, but cannot enter country. The install will not let you continue without entering a country.
