stuttering audio in foobar2000 since Wine 1.4
by Mr. Gil on Thursday October 11th 2012, 13:21
I've noticed when I'm tagging files or using foobar2000 to copy or move music files from one place to another that the audio starts skipping with gaps of silence in the music. My Debian-based distro currently offers Wine 1.4.1, and I compiled Wine 1.5.14 just now, and both have this issue. I then tried compiling Wine 1.2 and all the skipping went away. I tried foobar2000 v1.1.9, 1.1.11. 1.1.14 and 1.1.15 and they all behaved the same. Only reverting to an old version of Wine fixed the problem. I wonder what happened in Wine to cause foobar2000's audio to become discontinuous when there is heavy disk activity.
Playing column glitched
by Mateusz on Thursday May 24th 2012, 12:49
After maximizing from a smaller window, the "Playing" column in the default UI is covered by a gray rectangle. The size of rectangle depends on how small the window was before maximizing, and it disappears after minimizing/unminimizing the window.
solved: foobar2000 crashing as soon as files are loaded
by Mr. Gil on Tuesday March 20th 2012, 14:18
After installing foobar2000 on a 64-bit Linux system, foobar2000 would crash as soon as music files were loaded. To figure out what was going on, I started foobar2000 from the console with the command
My apologies if the explanation is too detailed. I often lose time because explanations of fixes leave out details which it is assumed everyone already knows.
fixing grainy album art
by Mr. Gil on Tuesday March 20th 2012, 14:00
Every time I install foobar2000 on a new Linux system, the album art looks grainy, fuzzy, mottled, crosshatched with artifacts, 256-color, etc. I'm putting a bunch of possible keywords here because when I searched for this I found nothing.
The fix is to place the native Windows version of gdiplus.dll in the ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 directory. gdiplus.dll can be downloaded from the web.
Maybe newer versions of Wine have better gdiplus functionality by now, but a typical distro repository may still be on Wine 1.0.1.

"DarkOne" theme fix
by Jonathan Busby on Wednesday December 16th 2009, 12:23
Most of what is broken when the "DarkOne" v1.6 theme is installed can be fixed by a DLL override. Specifically, overriding the built-in jscript.dll with a native3 Windows XP SP3 Windows/system32/jscript.dll
seems to do the trick.
