What works
All that is working is the installer and a few seconds after starting the game just when the updater starts.

What does not
Updating the game using their torrent client, therefor preventing the user from opening the game.
Later edit (31.12.2009): due to the workaround found the game passes the verification procedure of the installed files using the torrent software and the game start`s normally.
What was not tested
The game it self.
Later edit (31.12.2009): due to the workaround the only thing that has issues is the in-game shop.
Additional Comments
Inside the folder a patch.cfg exists, opened and at NOTICE_ENABLE i have set the value to 0 or leave it blank (this is a bit random) and got past 50% of the game check and then the error appeared. Good luck to others finding a way to play this game i hope this is a starting point.
Later edit (31.12.2009): adjusting the mouse.cfg inside the Metin2_EN folder may make the game work but that causes unexpected errors so i adjusted the game rating to BRONZE !
1. obtain the downloader from the metin2 site, download and install the game under linux, but don`t run it
2. do the same thing under windows but start the game and update it
3. boot back to linux and copy the contents of the Metin2 folder from the windows partition where the game is installed in to .wine/drive_c/Program Files/Metin2_EN/ replacing the one`s that are already in the folder
4. cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Metin2_EN/ and edit mouse.cfg . Instead of 5 you either put 1 or 2 (they somehow worked for me)
5. start the game using a wine desktop and using wine metin2.exe
Warning
Editing the mouse.cfg will issue a lot of errors so adjusting them may or may not make the game work. So i recommend changing the first number of the config with values from 0 to 9.
Sometimes in order to make the game run JUST ONCE i have to run wine metin2.exe several times.
The HOW-TO has less then 50% to work due to unexpected errors.
If the game runs when issuing wine metin2.exe for the first time, enjoy the game and don`t forget to change the first number from mouse.cfg in the case that the number used doesn`t work anymore.

In my how-to i have stated that the game may be started with wine metin2.exe but i suggest keeping the the wine shortcut as well because sometimes the game start`s using that shorcut.
