glsl

On Mac OS X, i got the Winehacks repo to work with the 2 patches, along with the sound fix in winecfg... as long as I disabled GLSL. Works ok on for some people, but I had to disable it... it runs fine with it disabled!

Loading crash is fixed and available as a source code patch
by Colin Wetherbee on Thursday January 21st 2010, 2:14
Per a Cryptic developer [0], applying the two patches from bug #21401 [1] causes STO to no longer crash during loading. I have verified this behavior.

Until these fixes make their way into a Wine release, though, you'll have to compile and patch everything on your own.

Thanks, Victor, for pointing out this work-around in your test result submission.

If we can get past the loading crash...
by doh123 on Sunday January 17th 2010, 11:16
If we can get past the loading crash, then the game should work, as I can get it to run fine in VMWare fusion 3, which uses wined3d for graphics. I have been trying to figure out the specific part that's causing the crash, so worst case we can at least make a source patch workaround. I've also tried the winehacks git that works with Champions and it has the same crash...

I have been able to install without "ie6 corefonts fontfix gecko liberation tahoma" from winetricks.

After the login screen I get a second screens where we are supposed to get the latest news about the game, but not only the center area is content-less, but also I see a drop-down list that is empty (I don't know what it is supposed to contain as I have no Windows machine to use for thest).

If I click on "Engage" nothing happen.

Here it is the screenshot of the window:

Here it is the lines that are displayed on console upon clicking "Engage":
fixme:mshtml:translate_url TranslateUrl returned new URL L"\b4b0\043e\0090\00112?x=57&y=23" -> L"#"
