Workaround for missing tooltips
by Dmitry Zhurikhin on Saturday July 23rd 2011, 12:46
I've stumbled upon an easy workaround for the missing tooltips problem. If you run the game in a windowed (or borderless) mode there is no such bug. So everything needed to enjoy the game is to change the game setting in the Video tab and check "Automatically capture the mouse in full-screen windows" in Graphics tab from winecfg. Also setting screen and game resolution to match (so that maximized game window covers the whole desktop) helps alot since then there is no chance to drive mouse out of the game window.

performance problems
by ichbinder on Monday February 21st 2011, 23:41
Hi,

I have performance problems in GA. When I start GA i have 10 - 15 FPS.
My hatware:
Thinkpad t61p
Core 2 Duo T7400 2x 2,4 GHz
Nvidia Quadro FX 570m 256MB
3GB DDR2
Graphic Setup -> Lowest

My question, is my hartware to low or can i config wine/GA for better performance?

mfg,
ichbinder

Mono doesn't work
by Milan Troller on Sunday December 5th 2010, 11:15
I followed the guide in one of the posts there, and after launch attempt in steam, only window with error;

Fatal error in gc
Collecting from unknown thread.

I searched for it, and it seems that it's a problem between Wine and Mono. What's the way around it? It seems that this problem is there since 2007 while people got the game running, so how can I fix it?

Asking those fortunate of you, whom the Global Agenda works:
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 64b, using most recent wine and winetrick, I installed Steam, but whenewer I click to install GA, the steam crashes and gives no error, it seems to be Steam bug, but I am asking here anyway...

hope someone can help me thx

Instructions
by Heikki Mehtänen on Thursday March 4th 2010, 22:54
1. Create a fresh wineprefix
2. Install required libraries
winetricks vcrun2005 physx mono24 xact
3. Get d3dx10_39.dll (either from a windows installation or from the internets)
4. Copy d3dx10_39.dll to windows/system32/-directory in your wineprefix
5. Start Steam and use it to install the game
6. After installation is complete, close Steam and navigate to path/to/Steam/steamapps/common/global agenda live/PreReqs
7. Use regedit prereqs_on.reg to import a registry key to disable Steam from installing required libraries
(physx etc, we installed these earlier on by using winetricks).
8. Start game initially
NOTE: Always when starting game it launches 2 windows - splash screen and game window
For me to successfully launch the game, i need to focus the GAME WINDOW before
the game actually launches (thanks for this tip goes to love2hate :))
Also please note that i wasn't able to run the game in a virtual desktop mode.
9. Set up the game. This step is done now, since GA uses UT3 engine which suffers from a
mouse bug (we'll fix that later :)). Set your resolution, UI options and such.
10. Quit the game
11. Do the UT3 mouse bug registry hack by setting
[HKCU\Software\Wine\DirectInput] MouseWarpOverride = force
NOTE: Without this, the mouse will hit 'edges' of the screen when rotating in-game.
However, when enabling this, mouse navigation will break in the game menu,
requiring you to navigate using the keyboard.
12. Start the game (remember to focus the game window again :))
13. Enjoy!
