The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Almost everything as far as I tested (menus and the prologue).
What does not
Though I stated above that pretty much everything works, the game is still not playable due to extremely low frame rate. Even on the very, very lowest settings, the game is not playable at all (though note that my hardware is somewhat outdated; see additional comments).
DirectX 10 or later cannot be chosen in the settings, nor can I change the anti-aliasing settings.
Mouse does not work in the menu, and one is forced to navigate the menu using the keyboard.
What was not tested
Playing after the prologue, extensive testing of the menus.
Additional Comments
Using a clean wine prefix, I had to fetch the following packages with winetricks: vcrun2005, physx, xact, d3dx9_36. I also had to set Wine to use software emulation for the audio in order to get any sound at all.
I also tested Wine 1.3.4 (using the same Wine prefix as I had used above, generated initially with Wine 1.3.3), but noted a regression where I couldn't use the keyboard to navigate the options menu.
Hardware: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT, AMD Athlon 64 X2 (2.0 GHz), 2 GB RAM.
Lighting issue
by Pasha on Wednesday September 12th 2012, 0:50
Everything works pretty good on medium settings for me, EXCEPT there is an annoying lighting pop-in. Looks sort of like somebody flicks the lights on only if I come close to a light source, otherwise the area around it is illuminated by ambient lighting only. I know it's hard to describe so I found this video that explains it better: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9ro3_4QFDU#t=5m15s
how to start this game?
by Yuki on Tuesday December 20th 2011, 6:27
how do you get around the loss of keyboard in the start menu?
whenever I go on new game or options (keyboard works for the 1st instance), a 2nd menu opens and the keys are unusable;
the game however does not crash...
Mouse Trouble Crash
by Bully Bull on Sunday May 15th 2011, 12:09
I have an absolut weird issue in wine-1.3.20
Normally MouseWarpOverride is set to enable.
After I start a new game it freezes when I move the cursor.
(the same with MouseWarpOverride is set to force)
Is MouseWarpOverride disabled the game doesn't freeze
but I can't move the cursor or be more exactly I look
always upward.
The new function "allow fullscreen applications to grab the mouse"
change nothing. (irrelevant if I tick or untick it)
The last version where the game works is wine-1.3.14
with the following patch
repo.or.cz/w/wine/hacks.git/blobdiff/97466d3900cbf1b1065e2904505fb96f49003a79..16a0c87d37d942ee807895a17e6d639e249d6285:/dlls/dinput/mouse.c
Keyboard in main menu and market
by Mickaël on Thursday December 23rd 2010, 6:18
Hi,
Installed on fresh wine prefix: game mostly playable with low graphical settings on E6300 @ 3.8ghz / Geforce 9800 GT overclocked / 4 Go RAM.
Problem is that i cannot use keyboard in market to select what i want to buy, and in main menu to change action keys or just to navigate in options.
Installed the game with DX and PhysX bundled via STEAM.
Installed dxinput.dll
Had some issues during first install, causing game to crash at startup (probably because i tried to install DX dll from winetricks)
Any tips to optimize performances? or is it my CPU that is too weak for light effects?
menu performance boost
by Kris on Monday August 23rd 2010, 8:15
for some reason, when you start the game the main menu has big mouse lag. but if you go into options and then change the video resolution to anything else, the mouse lag will be completely gone.
however, the mouse lag returns if you go into the game and then back into the main menu

Outdated Drivers - OK Button
by d10sfan on Saturday March 27th 2010, 21:21
When I load Metro 2033, your graphic drivers are out of date message shows up and there is no way for me to click the OK button. Ive tried hitting every key on my keyboard, alt-tabbing in and out, and nothing works. Is there a way to either click that button or make metro 2033 not check?
Video Card
by James on Thursday March 25th 2010, 3:33
Hey guys. I noticed that you were saying that fps were quite low. What video cards are you using and what drivers please. This info would be very useful for me and many others as well I'm sure.

Low FPS
by Vadim on Wednesday March 24th 2010, 19:21
It's possible bug bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20277 also causes slowdown in Metro 2033. When I compiled wine with libmp3 support on x86_64 slowdown was gone. But I can't hear any sound, however...

graphics
by Manne Dyrver on Monday March 22nd 2010, 4:59
To get this game past the Title screen I needed to install d3dx9 through winetricks, othervise it hangs right there. But it is running very slow even with all graphics on low. (9800 GTX)
