Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Playing gameslaying games, saving, loading.
What does not
Heaps of stuff, most of which is fixable. (As in the two previous entries for this game)
What was not tested
Replays, Achievements, Extremely (24h play time) long games. multiplayer and LAN games.
Additional Comments
Just mainly putting this in to show that support for this game hasn't improved with Wine 1.3.13, works flawlessly after the fixes though. (Flawlessly in the stuff I've tested anyway)
------------------------------------------------------
Maciej Warnecki summarized the fixes for this game; including Marcos' fix for the font problem (Posted in other SoaSe version here).
-------------------------------------------------------
Fixes for all bugs/errors I had and are now gone:
1)
Problem:
Installers stops with:
"Runtime Error (at-1:0):
Cannot Import dll:c\windows\temp\is-C4R6D.tmp\isskin.dll."
error
Fix:
Install "mfc42" package through winetricks and retry.
2)
Problem:
Proper resolution/refresh rate cannot be set within the game
Fix:
Resolution/refresh rate needs to be set manually using a config file "user.setting" found in:
/home/username/.wine/drive_c/users/username/Local Settings/Application Data/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire/Setting/
These are the lines You are looking for:
VideoRefreshRate
VideoFullScreenWidth
VideoFullScreenHeight
edit them to be appropriate for Your screen.
PS.: It may be also necessary to edit "diplomacy.user.setting" after it is created (after running Diplomacy first).
Just edit it as with user.setting. Weird - there is no "entrenchment.user.setting" file.
3)
Problem:
Fonts are displayed incorrectly, too big, etc.
Fix:
1. In the game's directory inside de "Font" folder are 3 .ttf files, you have to copy to your local font folder and in a terminal run:
fc-cache -fr ~/.fonts
2. Using a terminal enter the game's Font directory and run:
sed 's/SinsAgencyBold/AgencyFB-Bold/g' -i.bak *.font
4)
Problem:
Game intermittently crashes/hangs.
Fix:
Lower graphics settings. I have read (and checked it myself) that lowering the settings in Graphics menu to High or lower (no Highest) should stop these crashes/hangs.
Note: "Planet detail" can still be set to 'Highest', though. This is the only exception.
Activation Window doesn't work
by Andreas on Sunday November 20th 2011, 5:00
I could install sins trinity without a problem from the stardock website.
But if I try to start the game with the Sins of a Solar Empire Diplomacy.exe, the Stardock Account Registration Window appears but the register button doesn't work. Nothing happens. No console output. The Quit button works. Is something in my wine configuration missing?
I use wine 1.32. Did someone got this problem, too?
No user.setting
by Lyr on Tuesday September 14th 2010, 6:06
I've been looking in the "Application Data/Ironclad Games/Sins of a Solar Empire" folder, there's nothing else than an empty "License" folder.
Tried to launch the game, change a few setting, play 5 minutes and save, but no user.setting file anywhere. I tried to create it myself, but nothing work so far.
