Guitar Pro is first and foremost a software designed to edit tablatures for guitar, bass, and other fretted instruments from 4 to 8 strings.
Its great ease of use and the success of its specific file format have made it a software used by guitarists worldwide.
It now includes editing support for many other instruments like the piano or the drums, a realistic audio engine, and interactive tools to support every musician's practice.

What works
Guitar Pro 6 installs without issue, and so do all of the soundbanks that I've tried. I am able to use the program exactly as I would in windows and arguably it runs smoother than it does in windows, which I admit may be a placebo effect. There are no issues of 'stammering' or lag which I would sometimes experience in windows, and this is leads me to believe that the program runs more smoothly than in windows.
What does not
Everything works, and the only issue I could find is that when importing soundbanks can cause crashing if you drag it from a linux folder into Guitar Pro. To get around this, simply File > Open > directory of the soundbanks for things to work 100% flawlessly.
What was not tested
Some soundbanks that did not pertain to my needs, but I've used over half of them with no issues.
