What works
All tax entry screens worked. The things I needed to fill out were:
PAYG income
capital gains worksheet
dividend
spouse
medicare
car deductions
The tax estimate worked. Printing worked.
What does not
Validation and lodgement did not work.I get the dreaded 8817 error.
When I called up etax they said it is possible to snail mail a paper printout to: ATO, GPO 9845, In your capital city. Do not change the "In your capital city"
Help does not work but does not crash the application.
What was not tested
I did not try pre-fill. I did not try roll-over.

eTax 2011 still broken (Wine 1.2.2, Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx)
by Philip Machanick on Thursday September 8th 2011, 3:27
I opened a saved file and it views and prints OK (with some font glitches) but help is still broken, and accessing the network e.g. for updates doesn't work (though that is also broken on Windows on my network, since the eTax software doesn't grok proxies). So could be an option if you don't need NW services like prefilling to fill in the form and print it (or copy to Windows machine just to submit).
