Additional Comments
I installed my copy of Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric" inside Windows via Wubi, so I have an advantage of having my Windows C: drive mounted as the "/host" folder in Ubuntu. From "/host/Windows/System32", I can steal all the DLLs that "wlsetup-web.exe" complains that it's missing, and paste them into my Wine's C: drive. Unfortunately, the efforts are all for naught. Wine's next complaint about "wlsetup-web.exe" is that:
fixme:advapi:RegisterTraceGuidsW (0x70b39a81, 0x70bbf240, {75638a28-e9ed-42b2-9f8f-c2b1f89cf5ee}, 1, 0x32fd00, (null), (null), 0x70bbf248,)
wine: Call from 0x68343828 to unimplemented function ntdll.dll.RtlInitializeSRWLock, aborting
err:module:attach_process_dlls "ncrypt.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\\home\\brandon\\Downloads\\wlsetup-web.exe" failed, status 80000100
I believe Windows Live Essentials, and the programs contained therein, have Microsoft-exclusive code in them that Wine apparently cannot understand, interpret, or execute, unless there's a Winetrick that can be used to fix this.
Windows Live Essentials 2011 installer doesn't show any options on the first screen (support for BCM_GETIDEALSIZE needed, ideal width and height for a specified button)
