Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Seems to start coming up, it draws the screen successfully but then it fails and hangs.
What does not
Nook worked well at the Ubuntu 11.04 level, but it won't come up under
wine 1.3.30 and Ubuntu 11.10. I get the following message and then it
hangs and requires the task be cancelled.
We are sorry, but this Barnes & Noble application
has encountered a problem and it needs to close
(code 001).
What was not tested
Could partially bring up the Nook software, it put up the first screen successfully, but it hung before I hit a button and required it's process to be killed. So I was not able to test it's basic functionality.
Additional Comments
It may be something easy, but it wasn't obvious to me.

I got this same error message on installing Nook for PC. I read other reviews and tried installing vcrun2008 via winetricks. This fixes the error message, and makes the program work. Everything appears to work so far once doing this. Not sure if downloading books works, yet.

There is a trick I discovered trying to install INTEL something or other APP...install vcrun6 and vbrun6 or you will get NSIS errors on install...this goes for nookStudy as well. There is nothing wrong with the download...
Install will fail without these libraries.
Using whatever wine 1.3 comes with Linux Mint.
Minor hiccups on buttons w/nook study as of last I used it under Ubuntu v10? and wine 1.2.
I usually buy books via web browser and pull them into the app, I have not tested purchase of books thru the app.Everything else seems to work ok. Integrates fabulously with Adobe Digital Editions.
