I can run other Paradox games, but not this one

Victoria 2 is the first Paradox game I haven't been able to get running. I'm running Natty x86-64 with wine 1.3.15. I've followed the various directions above.

No matter what I do, v2game.exe crashes. I've pasted a snippet of the warn+all console output below. What debugging steps can I take? Are there specific debug channels that would be useful?

Fix for fixme:quartz errors

I couldn't get past the loading video because of an error with lots of:
fixme:quartz:parse_header Not a valid header: ff:ff

followed by a stack trace.

Fix is to go into settings.txt in the Victoria 2 directory and set master_volume to '-1' which disables the sound... obviously no sound isn't ideal, but I haven't figured out how else to fix the problem.

1.3.1 regression

After updating to Wine ver. 1.3.1 I can no longer start the game.

Upon opening it, I get a dialogue box with no clear options and this text:

Cheat menu

One thing I have found not to work is the cheat command menu. It is supposed to appear when pressing alt+12, however this doesn't work for me.

Can others see if they can replicate the same problem?

ok, I managed to fix the VC80.CRT problem.

After installing the game and winetricks winxp d3dx9 dotnet20
I removed:
msvcr80.dll file from windows/system32
lua51.dll and lua5.1.dll from Program Files/Paradox../Victoria../

After that I installed code.google.com/p/luaforwindows/downloads/detail?name=LuaForWindows_v5.1.4-40.exe&can=2&q=

This is a lua package with the required VC runtime.

After doing this the game starts initializing until it says Loading Flags, and stays there.
