Reason 5 comes with cool new features, such as a new drum designer, a pitch FX and a onscreen keyboard...
Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Sequencing, device creation, routing, ReFills, ASIO - enough to use Reason for actual production with a deadline.
What does not
The menu bar does not work when you click on it, but pressing and releasing alt and then pressing down works fine (and, for me at least, is better than a mouse anyway).
Rotated text fails entirely to render. This makes identifying mixer channels on the 14:2 mixer way, way harder than it should be.
Small fonts (as used on button/encoder labels) fail to anti-alias properly, making them pretty hard to read.
Focus. When opening a modal dialog or the preferences window, the main rack/sequencer windows refuse to give up focus at first. Also, the registration dialog gets stuck under the splash screen.
What was not tested
ReWire. I have no ReWire host application to run under Wine.
Additional Comments
I used Reason under Wine as my sole music production tool to create everything in http://www.musicfortheblind.co.uk/endgame/ over the course of a weekend. It crashed once in 46 hours of solid use, while saving a project to a HFS+ volume, otherwise it performed admirably.
Not really Wine's fault, but Reason is still at its finest when run as a ReWire client and while Jack and WineASIO make this so very nearly a reality, the lack of clock sync is fatal. For solo Reason production, however, Wine is totally adequate.
Doesn't start
by dynaMIX on Monday January 14th 2013, 7:33
Hello everybody!
I guess i'm having the same issue as lobo:
I've installed Reason 5 successfully. Then i start it the first time and am asked for a license key, wich is accepted. Then the Reason loading-screen appears again for 1/2-second and then everything stops. No error, nothing.
Does anyone know what's wrong?

Cannot Register Software
by Jon on Friday July 1st 2011, 4:11
Hello all,
I am currently running Ubuntu 11.04, Wine 1.3.22, and I've run into a problem that is preventing me from running Reason 5 at all. I cannot register the software. I use the license key provided to me, but no matter what when I enter it into the registration window, it says the license key provided is not valid. Has anybody else experienced this issue, and what did you do to get it working?
