What works
Everything works. I installed official patch. Then NoDVD for this patch. The only problem was that configuration tool didn't work, so to remap keys i used patch for normal keys. As the result I am playing online on Fifa Arena (i have working serial for the game).
What does not
The game configuration tool.
What was not tested
Everything has been tested.

Works on Xubuntu 13.04, not on Ubuntu 13.04
by Adrian Cornel on Tuesday April 23rd 2013, 13:35
I am not going to post test data since I have no idea how I made it work - just follow the comments from the tests.
I have Ubuntu 13.04 beta and it is playable, except that the Menu has some strange graphics.
But when I start it from Xubuntu (Xfce environment), on the same system, it looks great
The game won't run
by ckop64 on Wednesday August 17th 2011, 14:22
hello, I have installed FIFA 11 to the default location (~/.wine/), along with vcrun2005 and dotnet20 via winetricks. I run Debian testing x64 with wine 1.3.26 (from Ubuntu PPA). I have patched my game to 1.10 (the latest one), and I kepp getting the same results. I have tried both RLD's and iMMxPC's exe (in order to get past securom).
[to minimise the length of my post I'm just going to put the terminal output on pastebin]
So this is what happens when I'm trying to run the game via fifaconfig.exe [which by the way segfaults when I'm not running it through the AutoRun.exe on the DVD... weird]:
Notice the error messages at the end: both of them mentions settings in user.ini.It would be a big help if someone could point me to that file, or where to create it.

Working on my machine
by Jose Mena on Thursday March 31st 2011, 23:06
Just wanted to post to confirm that FIFA 11 does work more or less fully on my machine. I'm running Arch Linux, kernel 2.6.37 and Wine version 1.3.16. I was able to start a cracked version of the game (using both the optical drive and a mounted .iso gave me problems), and I was able to access all of the game modes and enter into gameplay. I installed everything in a fresh WINEPREFIX, and had to use winetricks to install mono (sh winetricks mono28) in order to run the fifaconfig.exe file.
In-game, there's a huge performance hit. I'm right up against the lower end of the recommended system requirements (2.2 GHz Core2 Duo, 512 mb GeForce 8600M GT, 2 GB RAM), and I think that, added to the standard loss in performance from using WINE make my framerates really low. I tried forcing opengl rendering with regedit, but this didn't improve anything. Since I don't have a Windows license to test against, I would encourage our friends with newer, faster machines to verify that the game does indeed work well on the software level.

problems with pad
by elbolo on Sunday October 31st 2010, 14:38
Hi,
Fifa 11 is working great in my machine (Ubuntu 11.04, Wine 1.3.4, nvidia 260.19.06) but my pad is not, it's a Logitech RumblePad 2 USB.
In fifaconfig I can see in the terminal that each time I press a button it's recognised twice. E.g. I press button 6:
0,6,PRESSED,"PC_CONTROL_BUTTON06",Logitech Logitech RumblePad 2 USB
1,7,PRESSED,"PC_CONTROL_BUTTON06",Logitech Logitech RumblePad 2 USB
fixme:dinput:joy_polldev joystick cannot handle type 4 event (code 4)
0,6,PRESSED,"PC_CONTROL_BUTTON06",Logitech Logitech RumblePad 2 USB
1,7,PRESSED,"PC_CONTROL_BUTTON06",Logitech Logitech RumblePad 2 USB
in the game, the pad sometimes works but is recognised as two pads, so when I go to select sides and I move the arrow in my pad, both pads in the screen move. Some other times, the pad is recognised as a mouse.
This part of the output in the terminal might be relevant:
After LoadDataArchives(1)
Pads 3 out of 3
Device 0: 6->6: PAD
Device 1: 7->7: PAD
Device 2: 5->5: KEYBOARDPAD
Device 3: 4->4: MOUSE
Device 4: 5->5: KEYBOARD
C:\users\user\My Documents\FIFA 11\buttonDataSetup.ini : size 96993, pointer 03527890
and then I get a bunch of these:
fixme:dinput:joy_polldev joystick cannot handle type 4 event (code 4)
Please someone help me. The game is working great, but without the pad it's not playable :(
Works but cannot configure
by Paolo on Tuesday October 19th 2010, 2:29
It works great, but I can't configure the keyboard. I cannot see those white boxes where I should set the key.
BTW, I think that platinum is too much, you still need a crack to get the game working, the configure program is not correctly shown and audio sometimes lacks.
Doesn't run
by Vanack Sabbadium on Friday October 1st 2010, 10:50
I successfully managed to install it, but when i run the game, it shows the main window (with Logo and Wallpaper), but then it exits with an unhandled exception.
