I tried the BlackOPS mod along with the game itself.
My hardware configuration: Intel Core i5 at 2.67 Ghz, 4 GB of RAM and ATI HD5830 with fglrx drivers.
Keyboard Input
by Mark Sutherland on Wednesday January 19th 2011, 21:31
I ran into an issue running on Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.6 using ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro where no keyboard input was recognized. Running dll override xinput1_2, as recommended, in Wine configuration solved it. I'm not sure it's the ideal driver, but it works.
Worked flawlessly until August 20, 2010
by Lite M Finocchiaro on Wednesday August 25th 2010, 3:29
Since that date, the game has not worked. It hangs at the menu background image or crashes to desktop, sometimes I'll have to find it in my processes and kill it with a terminal. I wish I had half-life back! If there's anyway I can get this to work, would someone please let me know?
Game doesn't seem to run for me anymore
by Mark Yantek on Saturday August 21st 2010, 19:33
I just finished HL1 and decided to play opposing force next. After installing opposing force I was presented with a restart because steam auto updated itself. Once steam restarted I tried to launch opposing force and it locks up on the menu screen before the menu is actually displayed. This issue is also now in my regular Half-Life as well. Anyone else have this issue?
Not playable
by Christoph Haag on Saturday July 10th 2010, 6:07
I have catalyst 10.6 and a hd 4670.
All the Half Life 1 games have the same problem:
With OpenGL it crashes after 2 seconds in the menu.
With D3d the game runs but the colors are partly wrong, there are issues with the field of sight (it's a bit too big, if you go near a wall you see through it), you also don't see your weapon nor any information like ammunition on the screen nor any menu after you started the game.
Examples:
omploader.org/vNHcyaw omploader.org/vNHcyag
With software it runs but it is of course very slow and X eats all cpu. :(
Conclusion: Not "gold" for me but garbage like the test form Jason.
It happened with 1.44 and with 1.2rc7.

External mshtml.dll makes HL1 stall at starting a game.
by Alexey Loukianov on Friday June 4th 2010, 16:23
SUBJ. If you've got IE6 installed for the wine prefix you try to run Steam version of HalfLife/HalfLife:Opposing Force/HalfLife:BlueShift you will almost certainly face the fact that the game menus work as expected, but starting a new game fails while loading at "Checking game resources" of "Precaching Resources" steps.
This error is caused by native version of mshtml.dll that comes with Internet Explorer 6. You should run winecfg, head on to the "Libraries", find and click on the "mshtml" in the list, press the "Edit..." button and set to use and set the "Load order" to be "Builtin (Wine)" or "Bultin then Native".
This will mahically "heal" HalfLife and allow it to start up the games correctly. I susspect that the hang happens when HL tries to download and display advertisment banner in the bottom part of the "Loading" window.
