Focusing the game windows in the beginning.

What was not tested

Additional Comments

Install:
---------

To install you need to start the install normal and wait till it crashes. Then delete all the content in the installation folder for e.g C:Desperados. Then copy the contents from the Game folder on the install CD inside the Desperados folder. (namely Data Folder and game.pac)

Now go into the Data folder and "extract, Autodetect subfolders " all the *.pac archives

Now go to the game.pac and simply extract it in the same folder as the Data folder is. There should be now a game.exe and some dlls.

PATCHING:
----------

Download 1.1 patch and use unzip x to unzip it. Copy the contents from the Game folder into your Desperados folder and you are set.

As the game is not offically installed with registry entries you need to use a no cd fix to play it.

For the 1.1 patch to work you need to have msadp32.acm in system32 and set to native.

Has anyone had luck with Gog.com version
by Tomin on Saturday February 23rd 2013, 6:04
I tried Gog.com version again with no luck. This is what I did:
1. Created a new clean wineprefix
2. Copied msadp32.acm to windows/system32
3. Set msadp32.acm native in winecfg and enabled virtual desktop
4. Installed Desperados (bought and downloaded from Gog.com)
5. Tried it, some UI elements are invisible
6. Installed the patch
7. Tried (Game/game.exe), didn't work at all: pastebin.com/j1tHmMag
8. Tried again (Desperados.exe), the same: pastebin.com/YsVJ9jN3
Great...

ADPCM codec missing
by Tomin on Friday September 7th 2012, 10:43
I can't get the game working with Christian's advices. I've installed the game (Atari Store's package), installed the patch, copied the new msadp32.acm to system32 and changed it in winecfg to native. Now it's complaining about missing codec. Does anyone know if I could have more luck with gog.com's package?

GUI visibility
by rosta on Tuesday December 7th 2010, 18:35
Hi, I compiled and installed wine 1.1.43 and the GUI is invisible as in any other version of wine.

Possible regression?
by Lorenzo on Saturday January 23rd 2010, 8:22
I was playing Desperados with 1.1.35 and it was fine, except the well known problems (unusable menu mouse, mostly invisible gui in the top left, some invisible objects on screen like Doc's truck in the execution level, etc), but now that I've installed 1.1.36 I can't see the in-game mouse anymore!
Moving it around just makes the screen scroll: this makes the game unplayable, as it is.
