Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)

What works
Installation of official game client
Launching the game
Registering your UserId and Password
Updating the game (from the Tethealla patch server)
Character creation (up to naming your character)
Character selection (when using a pre-existing character)

This test was run from a compiled 1.3.19 build directory.

What does not
You are unable to type a name which is the last step in the character creation process. The esc, return, and arrow keys do work at this point (and are used for navigating the character select/creation menus) The user was able to type prior to this (when entering their username and password).

Once you've selected a character the game crashes during the 'bursting' screen with the text 'Connecting..' in the bottom left corner.

What was not tested
Ship/lobby select (next screens) and finally in-game play.

Additional Comments

It's necessary to start this game from it's installed directory. If started elsewhere the game will launch but selecting either 'Start Game' or 'Options' from the main menu will result in a 'Failed to start PSOBB/Option. Error code: 2' message.

The game also crashes at the same point under VirtualBox with it's experimental 3D acceleration enabled.

In regards to the typing issue, the native imm32.dll didn't work for me. I added a list of all the functions that PSoBB.exe calls from the dll to bug (27293). These functions (as of 1.3.20) are a good place to start looking at for the typing issue:

ImmSetCompositionWindow
ImmGetOpenStatus
ImmGetDescriptionW
ImmReleaseContext
ImmDisableIME

You're right, this is not working.
I can type login and password, but can't type the name.
Tried wine 1.3.19, 1.3.20 and 1.2, no luck.
I remember I have created characters before, not sure why it's failing now.

You can try the executable from SCHTHACK client, as I can type with it here. Windows version must be set to XP and keyboard layout must be "US".

You can also try the native "imm32.dll", but it may cause other issues.
