Steam installed via POL, DX and Flash Player automatically when you first start the game.
If your game crashes due to awesomium.dll then do the following to get game working again;
Go to the games directory (Steam/steamapps/common/total\ war\ shogun 2/) and rename AwesomiumProcess.exe to AwesomiumProcessOrg.exe
Pirate warning & Steam
During battles you may encounter a message saying your copy might be counterfeit or that your install is broken. Now this could be because of the FOTS fix mentioned OR there is a problem with how the game knows steam is running.
At first you'll only be able to move your mouse around but if you wait the message goes away and you'll be able to continue the battle as normal.

Missing character models
by CaptainRedShirt on Sunday September 30th 2012, 6:06
I'm getting missing models for the new campaign screen, where you choose a faction, and also where you make your multiplayer avatar. Also, I'm missing some graphics, ie, the campaign map advisor head is invisible now. No ideas whatsoever.
wldap32.dll troubles
by Ben on Tuesday August 28th 2012, 10:17
Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble getting this working. Steam installed just fine, as did Shogun 2 (d3dx9 and flash included), however, when I attempt to run it, I get the following output in the terminal:
err:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin L"WLDAP32.dll": libldap_r-2.4.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
err:module:import_dll Loading library WLDAP32.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\total war shogun 2\\Shogun2.dll") failed (error c000007a).
Now, I've checked and wldap32 is sitting in the system32 folder, and I've fiddled with the dll override in winecfg, but no luck so far. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong here?
New complication with FOTS update
by Mark Strout on Tuesday March 27th 2012, 11:24
Unfortunately, the latest expansion "Fall of the Samurai" brought with it patches to the base Shogun 2 install. Specifically, a dependency on Flash. Where pre-FOTS I was able to play the campaign and battles, there's now a crash on the 'legal' loading screen (though the mouse pointer icon changes to Shogun 2's pointer icon).
