Old test results
The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Playing game offline with patched Wine and "/offline"-option. (See Berrilions test to get the link to the wine-patch.)
Saving games offline
Patching Version from 1.0 -> 1.1 -> 1.1.1
Except of a few graphical bugs like mentioned below, the game is quite well playable. Maybe some of the bugs may be corrected by further game-patches from Ubisoft, because the retail-version is definitly very buggy and maybe its not really wine-related.
What does not
Some ingame-textures sometimes missing. Mostly around buildings on the map and on the battleground. Textures sometimes reappear if graphic-options were changed ingame and by automatic reload of the game.
Water effects are broken. I only have a white texture where water should be. Maybe its a wine-setting.
Playing the game without patched Wine. Without patch, Wine doesn't recognize the graphics-card
What was not tested
Online-Mode
playing the game to the final
Additional Comments
Rated garbage like Berrilions, because without patched wine you can't play the game. With patched wine it is between silver and gold, due to some graphical glitches ingame. if water could be displayed correctly i would rate it gold. See Berrilions test to get the link to the wine-patch.
It plays pretty well with occasional hangs of the APP that can killed with CTRL->ATL->BackSpace and I can restart X and launch again. I save often. Very rarely it hangs the entire console where I have to hard power reset or reboot from an SSH from another machine.
When I get to the end of the first Chapter of the first Campaign, A game loading screen appears and it hangs the console where I have to either manually power the machine or SSH to it and reboot. It seems that this is where it is supposed to unlock the next chapter. So I cannot progress to Chapter 2 of the Campaign.

arch x64 and screen flickering

One of the last hurdles to run the game after patching was to install the lib32-gfx drivers, if anyone else is having trouble on a 64 bit architecture you might want to consider installing your 32bit graphic-card drivers : )
With wine 1.3.1 + patch I can run the game, but there is so much screen-flickering around that hardly anything can be recognized. I m using the Ati hd5xxx series, open source driver, I ll test the closed source catalyst, any other suggestions are welcome.
Installtion failes with 'Could not register into GameExplorer'

The installation routine fails at the very end with the error Message mentioned in the subject. It also fails on windows vista with the same machine.
Up to date it has been proposed¹²³ to run the setup in win 98 / win xp mode, change the installation directory, update the drivers, disable the firewall and antivirus software or sing every song you know backwards, none of this had any effect on the installation from the dvd.
I tried to run the installer with wine identifiying itself as win98, vista, 7, 8rc2, none of this had any effect.
