What works

Viewing collection lists along with other menu items.

Seemingly everything except viewing books is possible.

What does not

1) When trying to open a book, the application Kindle for PC application crashes.

wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x7855753a (thread 002b), starting debugger...

2) The backtrace then points to msvcr90.dll

Kindle for PC complains about msvcr90 not being installed on install or first run.

What was not tested
Syncing and some other tools.

Additional Comments

Install MS's version of msvcr90.dll instead of Wine's?

29045 Kindle for PC crashes opening books if Times New Roman and Courier New are not installed NEW View

HOWTO

To work around the msvcp90 bugs, delete or rename this file:

~/.wine/drive_c/windows/winsxs/manifests/x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4148_none_deadbeef.manifest

Note that Wine will recreate that file every time you upgrade. To avoid this, make the directory read-only.

To work around bug 29045, install Times New Roman and Courier New, either systemwide or with winetricks.
