What works
The VST plugin works great in Ableton 8.1 and WineASIO+JACK. (This plugin method is the common way of interacting with software synthesizers like Massive.) It uses a ton of processor time. I have to have the buffer in JACK cranked up to give ~200 ms lag (a bit too slow for live performance) to prevent buffer underruns.

'gold' rather than 'platinum' only because WineASIO installation required a couple commands for my distro (besides just apt-get/yum) and JACK doesn't automagically start itself p;
