Initially I had quite a headache but after the prefix erase, it runs very nicely. Type tool is working, brushes are fine; The sidepanels get blacked out when open but show up properly when expanded so no big issue there. From what I've tested, so far so good. Solving the brush bug by Storm on Friday January 25th 2013, 9:58 The bug that causes brushes to draw a dot and not register the rest of the line appeared in Wine 1.3.35, so in case of Photoshop CS5, running it on Wine 1.3.34 fixed it. You can easily run multiple Wine versions using PlayOnLinux. Bug here: bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29871 You can also just patch the source code of Wine but I think running 1.3.34 under PoL is much easier. Also, I was able to install CS5.1 Extended 32bit and have it work perfectly out of box, without the need for ANY tweaking, by using the "portable edition" installer with PlayOnLinux! Probably works with CS6 too, didn't test yet but you may want to try. See my comment on CS5 for details. [post new] [reply to this]

by kai on Saturday December 22nd 2012, 16:07 I'm not sure if this is more or less common knowledge at this point but there was a patch released to fix the brush problem in photoshop in wine (photoshop would not recognize that a brush was being applied while holding down the click button or while on tablet and would only write a single dot) you can find it here: bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29871 I read about it here: forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17120 and to learn how to apply a patch, you can read this: winewiki.winehq.org/Patching It looks more difficult and involved than it is. I started out installing my dependencies one by one until I saw on another forum that you could: sudo apt-get build-dep wine -------------- Notes about usage: For me, photoshop does not seem to be shutting down properly. It runs fine once - then if you try to run it again (at least from a terminal) there is an error. execute: sudo pkill wine and then you should be able to run it properly once again. I ended up adding odbc32.dll and odbcint.dll (from a previous win98 installation) to correct the glitches in Bridge. Note that these need to be override to native after Photoshop install. I copied my x86 "Common Files" and "Adobe" Windows folders to .wine C directory. Works like a charm! Copying "Common Files" from the Windows side fixed Error Code 1 which was a configuration error. Works for 32bit ubuntu only by Bruner Bear on Thursday July 19th 2012, 8:53 I tried everything to make it work on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, but had too many problems (something related to gdiplus I think, but I'm hardly an expert). I can confirm that this method works for Ubuntu 12.04 32bit though, as I installed it as described on a virtual box running that system. Is there any hope problems will be solved soon for 64bit, or should I go back to Ubuntu 32bit? I really want to run PS with wine as I did on my previous 32 system, rather than in VB or dual boot.
