What works
Everything but the launcher, you need to bypass it (see additional informations).
What does not
Launcher and updates that it performs, you need a valid windows install somewhere to do the updates then copy-paste to the wrapper.
What was not tested
Higher levels and stuff you don't directly see.
Ati Cards, mine is a Nvidia 9400M.
Additional Comments
You need a valid windows install to perform the first install and the updates (beware, it's around 20GB of download).
Install on windows, then copy-paste to Linux/OSX.
If you use a wrapper (recommended, works flawlessly with latest wineskin engines (1.5.25)) copy it into it.
You need dotnet20, d3dx9 and the vcredist 2008 as winetricks. (or so did I on OSX 10.8.3).
Then just choose C:\Program Files/GameforgeLive/Games/FRA_fra/AION/Download/bin32/aion.bin as the executable
and in exe flags, juste use : "-ip:79.110.83.80 -port:2106 -cc:2 -noauthgg -ls -charnamemenu"
It should then work perfectly ;-)
If you get Aion to work an any operating system with wine, please
submit the test and put on the additional comments how did you get the
game to work! Any operating system test it's appreciated, but please,
if there are already tests with your same operating system, same wine
version, same Aion version and same things done and doesn't work, don't
post it! We really appreciate your help and we would like to get this
game working with wine on as many OS's we can!

text flicker bug details

text flickering (becoming gradually worse until all text except for monster/pc names is nearly permanently invisible) can immediately be induced by alt+tabbing out of the game, or switching desktop.
however, it does not happen if one switches to a virtual tty (ctrl+alt+f1..f6) instead. switching to one and back will not bring up the flicker bug!
weird gfx stutter bug

When I join a party and the party "UI" appears, ie the health+mana bars and class icon of other players, int he top left corner of the screen, the graphics of the game will suddenly start stuttering badly and it becomes very hard to navigate.
If I press F12 key which disables the complete UI the game again runs smooth as butter (but I can't see any stats of course oO).
If I leave the party so the party UI disappears again, the game runs fine again.
This problem does not happen with any other UI parts, such as transparent map, only with the party member UI stuff.

On GTX660M Aion works fine, except that after zoning, text starts flickering in and out and zone names displayed on the screen when entering a zone are halfway vertically cut off.
The text flickering affects all sticky quests on the screen and also chat, but does not affect monster/player names.
Eventually the flickering will be so bad that it results in the affected text beinge effectively invisible until restarting the game.
Sometimes the mouse cursor becomes invisible until moving it around a bit, not sure what exactly it is to point at for it to become visible again.
And very rarely game will crash when right-clicking an npc such as trade broker.
never once in my 12 years PLUS of using linux, have i EVER seen wine work. literally NEVER. i can get aion's NCsoft launcher installed, when clicked i get a task bar icon like there is a window that might be opening, and then it goes away, and were done. that is the closest i have ever gotten. where is it that we find the process you people used to get this to work? its nice to throw your arms up in victory, and brag about it, but it would be nicer specially for linux, to have more people in the victory stance and fewer in the dark. currently im using Fedora 17 and the latest wine with wine helper programs like suggested. but no luck with anything
Graphic Issue

I've finally got Aion mostly working, My only issue now is that when i get in-game it's like a blue fog and I can't see anything really. What maybe causing this? I'm using wine version 1.5.18

When i try to run WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefix/aion WINEARCH=win32 wine NCLauncher_setup.exe in terminal; it comes up with error:
wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\NCLauncher_setup.exe"
I have made sure to see that NCLauncher was there, but that didnt solve the problem.
AMD bug

It also may be that 12.10 uses newer drivers than 12.04, because on 12.04 even with default off screen rendering = fbo aion worked perfectly. I don't know whether it's wine related, driver related, or they messed up something in ubuntu 12.10 and I must switch distro... AMD bug

So, I'm on ubuntu 12.10 using wine 1.5.18 and 1.4. I have amd 6870 with newest propertiary drivers (open source and older don't work too). With default ofc screen rendering = fbo, I just get black screen in almost every app (for example guild wars, aion). When i set it to backbuffer, guild wars works and aion uhm hmm partialy. I can see login screen and play, but: i.imgur.com/iUnKf.jpg . When i installed nvidia gts 450, the bug wasn't there. What's more, the bug doesn't happen on ubuntu 12.04. Any ideas beside that amd sucks on linux and I should switch to nvidia?
Issues after install

I am extremely new to linux and have been doing ok handling it. But for some reason I can not seem to get Aion to work. It gives me "The program NCLauncer.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. and then it gives me a link to this page and I can not understand all the code and how to work it so I just want my game to work and how i can get it to do so properly. Could someone please help me out?
