I installed with Wine set to winXP mode then changed to windows NT 4.0 I have been playing for days without a crash.I have had fonts get messed up but I just created an application launcher to reboot wine.the command is "wineboot" without the quotes in a terminal or you can make an app launcher like I did.Just right click the panel and click add to panel then custom app launcher and for the command put wineboot name it what you want and click Ok.

Solution to font's corruption issue
by Brian Gorman on Friday April 22nd 2011, 22:21
Posted on the Ubuntu forums, so can't take credit.

Enter full tilt poker, get to forums, all fonts are corrupted, if so immediately exit.

Open System/Administration/System monitor

Click on processes tab, and kill process for the Fulltiltpoker.e program.

Now you can re-enter full tilt poker and not have corrupted fonts.

Note I've played for a while, not a full test, but seems to resolve the sound crashing issue so far, but far from an exhaustive test.

Window focus/attention on Cascade view
by Eirik T. on Sunday March 20th 2011, 14:26
Hi, I've used the application with Wine earlier and recently began to use it again. However, I didn't remember if this issue used to be common:

-Selecting windows/tables "Tile" does what is expected, every table is displaying in a grid. This works fine.

-Selecting CASCADE windows/tables does not bring the actual table with action up to attention. This makes the application less useful on a small screen laptop.

Any suggestion to make the tables appear as they would running FullTilt natively on MS Windows?

Hangs on exit
by Juan on Tuesday March 1st 2011, 1:29
Hey guys,
I'm using wine 1.3.14 (although I had the same problem with 1.2.2).
My settings dont get saved after I close FTP.
I think this is basically because the program hangs on exit and I have to terminate the wineserver.
I dont know if it helps but I've been getting this error message:
"err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0xXXXXXXX "?" wait timed out, retrying (60sec) fs = XXXX"

Has anyone been able to solve this problem?
Thanks

A fix?
by Wain Hopkins on Sunday January 2nd 2011, 18:59
The version of wine is not the problem. I have wine installed in gentoo on two different computers and it worked fine on one but on another I got this error,

"err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x7ef9fba6"

It has something to do with xfce4 which is the desktop I'm using. Xfce handles shortcuts differently which can cause wine to error. None of my other wine programs ever had problems though.

The only difference between the two computers is that on the computer where it worked I had xfce4 starting automatically with scim but on the computer where it didn't work I was starting xfce4 directly from command line (startxfce4). I managed to get it working on both computers by loging in through terminal through another account back into my main account. I used root, so it's hard to explain but like this:

su
Password:~
su your_user

Then run wine and it works.

Another problem I was having is that it wouldn't remember my virtual drives like c:, z: etc and that was fixed when I did that.

So hopefully this can help you. Even if you don't use xfce it might be something related to that. I would also try starting a new wine folder, ie mv ~/.wine ~/.wine2 and running winecfg. But it definitely has nothing to do with the version of wine you're using.

Some more drawing issues.. Invisible flop
by Kodaikanal on Monday December 27th 2010, 6:51
Hello all!

Since the last update i'm having a major drawing issue: when i get to the flop, one time out of ten maybe the flop is just invisible. If everybody checks, then the turn and the river are invariably visible... very weird indeed.

I know 3 different Pc's with Ubuntu + Wine + Full tilt which have the exact same problem. A solution or a workaround anyone? :)

Thanx a lot.

Merry christmas.

Solution to Sound issues
by Brian Gorman on Monday December 13th 2010, 5:00
Solution, well sought of....

I had a big spiel of rubbish to say, but its rather simple.

Go into Full tilt Lobby, click on Options tab.

Click on sound.

Disable sound from the Full tilt Lobby.

Crashes due to sound issues are now a thing of the past.

tested over 2 separate sessions of 6 hr's +, in Rush poker, the most frequent table playing game.

I'd give this a Platinum rating, BUT for the sound crashing issue. Disable sound in the lobby, solves this, but defeats the purpose.

Hey it works, play a cd instead of sound.

Gold rating

I played a 2 table tournament yesterday, FTP crashed under latest general deployment Wine under Karmic (Mint 8) at least a dozen times. While more than typical, it always crashes 2 or 3 times. Maybe it's because I still managed to stay in to the end. Winner winner chicken dinner. Cards anyone?

[post new] [reply to this]

Crashes still very costly
by Rojas on Sunday September 12th 2010, 10:22
FTP is no more stable now than when I started 6 months ago. Seems more stable if I reboot Mint 8 (Karmic), launch FTP and nothing else. No sure. Avg 3 freezes per tourney, very costly, except when I'm ready to make donk move. +EV probably.

no EsounD driver?
by Jonathan Natewood on Tuesday July 27th 2010, 2:49
since an update to wine(via the repository for ubuntu) there is no longer EsounD in the audio config.

There is only ALSA,OSS,JACK,NAS.

Anyone knows how to get back EsounD? or any other way to make it stop crashing?

After an update several weeks ago, won't complete login to FTP. I'm using Java client under Linux at Absolute Poker. Inferior to Win client, as AP is inferior to FTP, but it works.

Full Tilt installer won't open (solved)
by jim jowski on Thursday July 22nd 2010, 11:59
I downloaded the ".3" version of Full Tilt today and it can not open 'FullTiltPoker.exe' for writing. After deleting 'FullTiltPoker.exe' and clicking 'Retry' another file gave the same error message. I deleted everything in my '.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Full\ Tilt\ Poker/' directory and started the install again and things installed like they should and it runs.

by jim jowski on Wednesday July 21st 2010, 11:44
The ".2" version of Full Tilt that came out on July 21 around noon EDT appears to have a login bug that affects running in wine and some virtual machine softwares. When one clicks on the login button, the main lobby never appears and the login screen acts as if it ignored the login request.

Settings
by Thomas Benn on Friday July 16th 2010, 23:34
Hi there,

the settings not being saved had been a really minor issue for me for the longest while, since the one setting that really matters worked: Where do my hands get saved.

Since the latest FTP update (not sure what version number, but it's the one with the 4 player badges) it stopped working. No matter what I do, the setting will not keep. Annoying.

Anyone any ideas?

No money in my account
by Rodrigo on Tuesday May 18th 2010, 4:17
Hi, I'm using wine 1.1.43 and I've tried with older versions to run Full Tilt.

Every thing seems to work fine, but it doesn't load my money in my account.
When I log in a Windows installation I have $X,XX, but when I use wine on Ubuntu, it shows me that I have $0,00.

How do I fix this?

Player Notes
by King on Tuesday February 2nd 2010, 5:44
Hey, I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but where are player notes stored in the file system when using wine? I've been unable to find them, or find a file that matches ".xml".

Thanks in advance...

sound seems to work fine
by jim jowski on Tuesday January 19th 2010, 14:32
Wine 1.1.36 and FTP 2.0.34(?) and sound worked fine without crashing for over an hour. This was in a combination of tourneys and ring games.

full tilt poker is 99.5% perfect
by jim jowski on Tuesday January 19th 2010, 12:33
Using wine 1.1.36, I downloaded the latest FTP (version 4.0.23 if I remember correctly). This version would not auto-update but that's no big deal. After installing, all the preferences that earlier FTP versions wouldn't remember were remembered and the startup looked like one a Windoze 'puter has. There are still processes that aren't fully closed when FTP exits but that's easily fixed with "ps aux|egrep 'Full'" and killing the appropriate PID. I now think the process not closing out properly is an issue with FTP as when it crashes, the PID of the crashed process is closed out by wine.

Just need to check and see if enabling sound again will work without crashing but life is good! :^)

Proper Exit
by Aristotelis Mikropoulos on Wednesday December 9th 2009, 12:05
Above, I wrote a post about my problem. I think the main problem, whose solution would also solve all the problems (bad characters, remember options), is the proper exit (the program should not hang on exit). If that would be fixed, then, the options would be remembered (as they would be saved properly) and the characters would not be bad the next time (wineserver -k would not be necessary, because wine would have exited along with the program). So, if this is solved, many things are solved. If this can't be solved, please look at my post above, and see if you know how to workaround my problems. Thank you very much :-)

Problems with saving information, history etc
by gerald on Monday November 23rd 2009, 3:58
I am currently running wine 1.1.33 and the latest version of fulltiltpoker. And on 9.10 Ubuntu.

Everything works perfectly well for me. Fulltilt runs well and all.

However, there seems to be problems with fulltilt saving past information. There is no "memory" of my past changes to preferences the moment I quit the application.

Besides remembering my login and password, the rest is forgotten. I have to choose how to view my tables, preferences, etc.. like a fresh install.

Does anyone have any solution to this?

(I am not sure here, but I think when i was running wine 1.1.32, there dint seem to have this problem. But then again, I am not sure.)

there is an option to check if you dont want to see that message again
but the option is not saved after you close full tilt..

how can what option i need to put in the registry so i wont get that message?
im almost sure that without this message the table window will not disappear.

wine 1.1.28
by jim jowski on Monday August 24th 2009, 17:44
Early indications are that FTP will work in 1.1.28. So far, the same issues that were in 1.1.27 are in 1.1.28. I'll get around to that bug report now that 28 has hit the street but it might not be today.

Workin on Fedora 11 with compiled wine 1..1.27
by ajji on Sunday August 23rd 2009, 7:36
Hello All,

For me also the wine 1.1.27 version is allowing again FTP to work on my Fedora 11 setup (first without fonts but after copying the one from, windows system as explained in other post it works!)
Only issues are:
-when switching from workspace (having in my case compiz fusion the table window may disappear but is still active (sounds notification still working)
-when exiting the application the process is not always killed properly

It is very good to be able again to play poker without switching OS!!!

Well, maybe not quite 100%
by jim jowski on Wednesday August 19th 2009, 12:48
There are a few things that still don't work on my system. I'm running slackware 12.2 with Gnome 2.22.1 and wine 1.1.27 and can play the game but there are limitations.

1. When I 'mouse over' my seat, the cards I was dealt come up blank.

2. When I 'mouse over' another player's seat, his info comes up blank.

3. When I 'right click' my seat, the menu is blank.

4. When I edit my game preferences, the changes are lost when I close the main menu.

5. When I register for my first game, I can't get the lobby for that game to reappear. I might want to unregister but can't. :^) This isn't a problem for subsequent games.

6. (and this is a biggie!) When I close the main menu to exit the application, a process remains alive. I have to manually kill the process with a 'ps au', then kill the PID for that process. If you're having trouble getting it to upgrade, that could be the reason.

So far I'm glad I don't need Bill-ware to play poker but...

100% WORKING!!
by Jens on Saturday August 15th 2009, 15:18
After a lot of trying and failing.. I have got Full Tilt Poker to work 100%.. Text, menus, NO drawing issues..

I use Ubuntu 9.04 and wine 1.1.27.. I would love to give you the step-by-step solution, but in fact, I don't really know exact what I did that made it work..

What I did:
- Downloaded all fonts from sourceforge.net/projects/core...20fonts/final/ and installed them through wine.
- In my setup, I dual boot with Windows XP Professional. I copied all fonts from Windows XP C:/Windows/Fonts/ to Wine directory c:/windows/Fonts/

..and Finally, I copied the Full Tilt Poker directory from Windows XP to Wine directory c:\Programfiler\Full Tilt Poker\ (Equal to c:\Program Files\Full Tilt Poker\ with with english setup)

I hope this can help you all, maybe one of you could find exactly what needs to be done..

New FTP client Beta
by ray on Friday March 6th 2009, 16:10
FTP has a beta version of a new poker client. It can be downloaded here:

www.fulltiltpoker.com/beta/download

I installed it and fooled around with it some. It is prettier and snappier than the old client, but is not usable. The problem I encountered was that text would not display on the poker window, so there are no player names displayed and no text on buttons, etc.

I have not tried to fix this with native DLLs, installing fonts, etc. Any suggestions for that will be greatly appreciated.

Full Tilt Locking Up
by ray on Thursday February 26th 2009, 10:36
Hi all--

Fedora sent wine 1.1.14 down the series of tubes yesterday. Since then I have been having FTP lock up on me after about 15-60 minutes of play. It had been working fine. I haven't spent any time sleuthing the problem yet.

My system:
fedora 9, full patched
wine 1.1.14 from the fedora repos
xfce 4.4.2
kernel 2.6.27.15

Workaround for broken web links

As posted in bug #13891, there is a problem opening an external browser in recent versions of Wine. However the workaround posted by Geoff Wilson in the bug log works very well!

Modify the registry (wine regedit.exe) and append %1 to the value in:
