The test results for this version are very old, and as such they may not represent the current state of Wine. Please consider submitting a new test report.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
What works
Installation and recognition into the supplied DragonPad and Wine's Notepad work well.
Please refer to the notes for Version 7. The instructions, problems are the same.
What does not
No dictation possible outside the Wine environment.
What was not tested
Many of the commands were not tested. Training was not tested.
Additional Comments
For best recognition, train using Kennedy's speech or Alice in Wonderland. The other texts are too choppy. (This is good advice for any distribution.)
There are more complete installation and setup notes on the version 7 entry, many of which will also apply to v10 though expect some differences due to changes in WINE as well as DNS.
This should however be a useful reference.

Directions to install and test

Make sure you have a recent version of Wine, 1.1 is recommended. Make sure you have a recent version of Linux. I use Ubuntu Hardy Heron.
The installation instructions for DNS8 should be the same as DNS 7, and are the following:
Copy the contents of the disk to a folder called DNS.
In terminal enter:
wget http:/www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
sh winetricks fakeie6
Navigate to DNS folder
wine setup
Follow all instructions. Accepting defaults is a good idea. I don't remember if automatic registration works..
Do training. Make sure you have a good microphone (the one that comes with the program is "adequate.)
