I've played NFS5 from under the wine a few years ago and all was ok. But now I see some strange issue. Not sure if this is a wine issue.
My desktop resolution is 1280x1024, when I start NFS it switch monitor to 640x480, but picture is stretched a lot, and I can see only right-top corner of picture. I cant even exit from game because buttons stretched out of screen.
I found some workaround for this:
xrandr -s 640x480
This works fine.
Does anyone know how to fight this issue without switching resolutions with xrandr?
Some additional data: wine version 1.5.21, mesa-9.0.1 with r600g driver for my Radeon HD4850. 64-x bit gentoo system on 3.5.7 kernel.
Porsche Unleashed online play

I am very excited to find this project being actively pursued.
We have a very strong friendly community of racers. We always
welcome new racers. We use a chat server with IP exchange software
to facilitate online gaming. This site is in no way related to
Electronic Arts or its affiliates. It is an independent Project
by PU fans for PU fans. At the risk of infringing advertizing
guidelinse I would like to say that Google knows us as IPLounge.
Thank you all for your efforts to maintain and preserve a great
game for future generations of gamers.
How to make it run
by Johan Palmqvist on Saturday July 11th 2009, 15:49
This is one way to get Porsche Unleashed to run (tested with Wine 1.1.25 and NVIDIA graphics drivers). Unfortunately the game does not run out of the box.
Install the game in it's own wineprefix.
Upgrade/patch the game by installing the unofficial "Porsche Unleashed Enhanced Version 3.5.20040310" patch.
Find and download the "spotptch.zip" archive on the net and replace "Drivers/dx7z.dll" in your game directory with "dx8z.dll" from the Zip archive.
This is not recommended but I also used a no-cd patch for version 3.5 to run without the CD inserted (make sure it's not illegal to use such patches in your country).
Disable gimme.dll by renaming it to gimme.dll.DISABLED or something like that. This will most likely break multiplayer support but the game currently crashes with it.
You may want to have a script in the background which continuously resets the gamma settings (xgamma -gamma 1.0 every second should do the trick).
Start the porsche.exe with driver=dx7z as argument.
If the game starts the gamma and fonts may be totally screwed up but it should be possible to partly read and navigate the menus to get to the driving part. Lots of graphical artifacts (looks like fonts are projected to center of screen) may appear in front of the car when driving. It may help to reduce HUD display options. Sound output, mouse and joystick input should work without problems.
