Dreamweaver 8.x won't start : Fix
by Cocodidou on Friday July 2nd 2010, 6:50
I have found a fix for those who are still stuck with their Dreamweaver 8 installation under Wine (should it have the same behavior under Windows?). The problem you may have is that it will display the boot splash then crash with a "above array bounds" like error in the terminal, or nothing if launched by a GUI.
The reason of the problem is that Dreamweaver was either closed on computer shutdown or has crashed, and during the session you have added a new site, not leaving Dreamweaver the time to save every information about the site you have just added.
Here's the fix:
Go through the registry to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\ and make a backup here. Then delete the "Common" key.
Warning : You will lose any website information you entered in Dreamweaver, so you'll have to enter them back. It will not delete your files, the website folder will stay as it was when you left Dreamweaver.
Disclaimer : Be aware that what you are doing can put your computer at risk, making it unstable or completely useless. I cannot be held for responsible if there is any problem, including software or hardware damage, data loss or anything.
Dreamweaver 8 adding Images
by Luke on Monday April 27th 2009, 10:11
I have been using wine 1.1.12 for a while, and Dreamweaver worked pretty much perfectly. After upgrading to 1.1.20, I have noticed that trying to add images causes the application to crash. I get the "Select image Source" box, and after selecting the image, and pressing ok, the application hangs... Luckily I also have Crossover Office, and it works in that. The only reason I didn't place this in bugs.winehq.org is because I can't log in...
I just got
- all the /programm files directories (except DW off cource)
- all the /Profiles/All Users/application data
- all the /windows/installer
- and a single dll on /drive_c
back to my new wine folder and it seems to work fine. I'm currently working on Fireworks for one hour now with now bug.
Cannot launch the app again...
by Loiseau2nuit on Sunday November 30th 2008, 17:45
Good evening,
On Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid + wine-1.1.9
Install process went on successfully.
I even worked with DW8 for one hour or two before it crashed suddenly while saving/uploading a remote CSS file.
I then was unable to launch the app again. I can see the splash screen but it systematically crashes when it comes to display the main workspace, even after a full reboot of the computer
I tried :
- to REPAIR the app from wine conf board : no success
- to REMOVE the app from wine conf board : no success (the process runs normally but the app is still there, and so are the folders -> 1.1.9's bug ?)
- to REPAIR again : still no success
- to remove / re-install wine : Yet Another "no success" Sentence
has a review of using Wine (probably 1.0rc3) for Dreamweaver 8:
"...
on my newly installed openSUSE 11, I thought I’d try a direct WINE install of Dreamweaver 8, and guess what? It worked. Basically, I clicked the setup.exe file using WINE and the installer did the rest.
...
[The app is buggy but usable.] sometimes the menus disappear and setting up sites becomes a bit of a pain with no options to view.. but still there are plenty of workarounds. Then also, is the command in Dreamweaver for previewing in browser. But now launches Beagle Search and I have to make my main browser the secondary browser and preview pages with . Like I said, no big deal."

MM is not defined - Solved!
by Lucas Cury on Sunday October 7th 2007, 13:05
For those who are having this error at DW's startup:
JS Error:
MM is not defined
filename: I:\Disco\Programas\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration\Startup\helpDocs.js
lineno: 2
To solve this, add this empty function the beggining of the file file
~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Macromedia/Dreamweaver\ 8/Configuration/Shared/Common/Scripts/dw scripts.js
Please File Bugs!

Last I checked, Dreamweaver 8 starts and seems to run reasonably
well under Wine. But I'm no Dreamweaver user, and I don't have
time to do much QA on it myself, so I'm sure I'm missing a lot of problems.
Could somebody test it and/or comb through the appdb comments,
usenet posts, blog entries, and whatnot about Dreamweaver, and
start filing bugs at bugs.winehq.org ?
Can't fix 'em if we don't know about 'em!
Connecting to Database
by John on Thursday July 26th 2007, 14:18
Hi,
I have Dreamweaver 8 running really well using Wine 0.9.41 and Fedora 7. The only problem I have come across so far is that it will not connect to a remote database or open up in a browser (F12) This is the only application I am running in Wine is there maybe something else I need to do to sort this?
Appreciate any help
Fix for Dreamweaver Hanging on updating cache
by Karen Chun on Monday July 23rd 2007, 15:12
Running Ubuntu. Dreamweaver working fine except appearance sometimes glitches slightly (form boxes invisible until I run the mouse over them, clicking).
Then I "enabled cache" in one of my sites. BAD idea! Dreamweaver hung updating cache every time and wouldn't let me change anything to fix it.
Solution: Rename the folder containing that offending site to a temporary name. Create an empty site folder so it doesn't have any files to update. Start Dreamweaver. Now you can get in and Uncheck "enable cache". Exit. Delete the empty clone folder and rename the real site folder back to its original name. Restart Dreamweaver.
Portable Dreamweaver

Works really well but one problem
by Laurence on Saturday March 17th 2007, 15:34
Hi,
I have a strange problem with Dreamweaver 8 on Suse 10.1
The program is all working fine under Wine/KDE but if I try to paste anything into design view in Dreamweaver, it will only paste the first letter of the clipboard contents.
For example if I copy this sentence as text from say Firefox, Thunderbird, Kate or OpenOffice, it would only paste the letter F.
I have tried with and without Klipper and even under Gnome and still the same thing happens.
This is a bit of a problem for me as usually content for my website is sent to me by Email or as a Word/OpenOffice document.
It seems that if I paste it into the HTML/Source view of Dreamweaver it pastes fine, but this is a real pain as I then have to re-copy it and paste it back into design view.
Any way to put a linux web browser into the list?
by Leonardo on Monday January 29th 2007, 14:18
I have installed Dreamweaver 8 and runs perfect in version 0.9.30 (still no errors) i have OpenSuSE 10.2 x86_64, but when i try to put a browser in the browser list (Mozilla Firefox native), it doesn't recognize it. It HAS to be a wine-installed windows browser like IE?
