The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)
Almost everything, and by simply inserting sndvol32.exe from a window install into the Wine system32 folder it is even possible to call the mixer from within Adobe Audition and control your sound cards record/playback settings and features from within wine which is truly fantastic !!.
Midi output/player works very well in multi track mode (requires TiMidity ++).
Wave output should be set to a 16 bit default. Remember to tick the "Use this device in edit view" box after setting up your sound card preferences in Device Properties.
What does not
CD player and CD project feature but audio CD can be a Wine issue generally. Extracting audio from video because the program doesn't recognize DirectX 9 even if it is installed. The installation had very confusing issues. See the extra comments section for more on installation.
What was not tested
Shortly after begining the install nothing happens. All the dialogs mysteriously disappear and it looks like the installation has failed. After several minutes, I counted almost four minutes !!!, the installation suddenly resumes to completion. An error is misreported at the end where it says the installation failed to complete. The app has actually fully installed and works perfectly.
After loosing my favorite cool edit pro this is an awsome and most welcome addition.
Playback must be limited to 16-bit under Options > Device Properties > Wave Out. If not done, playback will just be white noise.
(JACK users only) Audition supports playback via Jack Audio Connection Kit, but crashes when recording through JACK.

Audition 1.5 running under Wine...
by Roberto Hugo Rodríguez Zubieta on Saturday November 21st 2009, 16:11
Hello, I want to clarify that with Wine version 1.1.29 and Audition 1.5 build 4124.1, graph perfectly the audio in the multitrack view , assistant screen captures that show what I affirm; it also reproduces clearly the audio, so much from the multitrack view, like from the view of edition of audio mono or stereo, however so that it happens it is necessary to configure in the options of Audition, inside properties of devices to the wave mapper and to put the reproduction limit in 16 bits, tambíen can be activated the dithering option to 32 bits, like it is shown in one of the captures; the only serious problem that persists, is the correct unfolding of the ícons of the internalls buttons of the program; I have proven it with Jack and it works, like you can appreciate in the quantity of connections settled by Wine between the program and the audio server, however this combination is something unstable (Jack often stops and there is also a delay of some seconds among that we order to reproduce and he begins to make it in sincronism with the editor's graphic part). If we choose in the configuration from Wine to Alsa, as the audio device, then all the problems and uncertainties disappear; I believe that Audition 1.5, under Wine 1.1.29 suffer of a single defect (that of the not well displayed ícons); but it doesn't lose any functionality for I believe it that it should be gone up of category.
I request them pardon if they find something tarzánic my English, result of a mix among Power Translator 7 running fine in Wine and me. The operating system host is Slitaz Linux 2, cooking version, with kernel 22.214.171.124. Greetings!
