Powerslide is a fast-paced, 3d racing game set in a post-apocolyptic world.
What else needs to be said?
Make sure you run Powerslides' own config utility, ps_clo.exe under WINE and make sure "nopollsound" is selected.

Additional Comments
Slackware + wine seemed a lot more accomodating. Wine was installed using the precompiled package provided on the winehq download page under slackware.
