What works

Installing the game and playing it with nocd-patched POP.EXE at highest quality mode with a geforce 7150 using Nvidia's official 180.27 beta for 64bit. My Saitek gamepad works basically.

What does not
The thumb-buttons (L1,L2,R1,R2) of my gamepad don't respond, except of that everything runs properly out of the box and there are no fog problems or any others with nvidia-hardware.

What was not tested
ATI-Hardware, nv video driver and cd-check.

Additional Comments

Using nocd-patched POP.EXE everything runs perfect out of the box for at least nvidia.

Can't install
by Ildar Sagdejev on Sunday December 26th 2010, 21:09
Installer fails, after copying files from both installation disks, requesting:

"Please insert disk 0 that contains the file data4.cab"

There is no disk 0, and no data4.cab. Apparently, this is not a Wine problem per se: forum.mininova.org/index.php?showtopic=235014709

I am installing from an external DVD RW drive (Sony DRU-830A) connected via USB. These are legitimate CDs and have installed and ran just fine a couple years ago on Windows XP.

I can see the text in the game, but the rest of the screen is pink. How can I fix this?

hwo to solve the fog problem
by Simon Beer on Monday May 24th 2010, 8:44
There's a way to solve the fog problem and enable fog again:

Open the game directory and open the "Hardware.ini"

Find the following two lines:
ForceVSFog=0
InvertFogRange=1

and change them to:
ForceVSFog=1
InvertFogRange=0

Worked for me (Wine 1.2-rc1, Geforce 9800GT & driver 195.36.15).
Don't know if this works with a Readeon, too.

Screen resolution
by Mayne on Friday January 2nd 2009, 16:14
Note that SoT limits screen resolution to 1280x960. Use UniWS www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/UniWS to patch POP.EXE to use higher resolutions.

Side note: Echo effects in audio are missing; this is not implemented in Wine yet (see Wine bug 10603).
