Description
LE stands for Learning edition, it is actually Turbocad v4, the last 2D Turbocad version. v5 & up are all 3D. Was distributed as a free promo edition by imsi, was withdrawn because of problems with Win XP. Now available from Turbocadables instead of freecad but but I cannot get the URL listing to edit.
Old test results
The test results you have selected are very old and may not represent the current state of Wine.
Selected Test Results (selected in 'Test Results' table below)

What works

Tested with dll overides of n,d for MSVCRT.dll and RPCRT4.dll

Almost everything works perfectly other than one minor and one major problem, below.

Tested were drawing functions in a new drawing, saving and loading drawings in .tcw and .dxf formats

What does not

Minor: When doing a file save, the lower field of the filename chooser window which normally shows the extension types available (.twc, .dxf, etc) is blank.

Major: When attempting to set any program options in the Options screen you can change values (or not) but attempting to save them causes the program to freeze.

The options in this CAD program are extensive and important to its operation. Because of this and the need for dll overides, it is being degraded to bronze.

(added by Ted Hansen) Unable to import files, pictures (.bmp) or objects.

Additional Comments

the Kanotix 2005-04 standard install was upgraded from Wine 9.1 to 9.15 -- the latest available deb at this time for a Debian distro. The Turbocad LE program would not load a saved .tcw format file (it's native format) under Wine 9.1, but did not have this problem in 9.15.

HOWTO
(this is a TurboCad how to, not a wine issue) Relocating an object reference point appears to have been deactivated when TC version 4 was released as TC LE. This is a fairly important function so luckily there is a workaround: Suppose you want to move a line so that it joins to the end of another line. Normally you would relocate the reference point of the first line to the endpoint (vertex) then move the line to snap to the vertex of the second line. Since you cannot relocate the reference point in TCLE, you must do the following: First draw a temporary object (eg circle) large enough to completely enclose the line you wish to move. Now move this circle snap to the vertex of the line. Now add the line to the selection...the reference point does not move provided the circle is large enough to enclose the entire line. Now move the both selected objects snap to the vertex of the second line. Now remove the temporary circle.

Importing from QCAD
Turbocad LE will open files created by QCad but only if they are saved as .dxf(R12), not .dxf(2000)

Note
There is an upgrade to Turbocad v 4.1 available from www.softdevspb.com/plugins/TC/TCAD_downloads.html#patches

New Source

TCLE is no longer available from freecad.com, however it is now available from TurboCadables http://turbocadables.com/download.php#turboCADLE

FILE SAVE BEWARE
by Ted Hansen on Sunday January 7th 2007, 10:56
Do not save files using .tcw format with wine version 0.9.25, it will make an unreadable file. .dxf & /dwg formats appear to be OK
Last version known to work properly is 0.9.20.
0.9.21 to 0.9.24 have not yet been tested for this bug.

Using wine 0.9.15, windows version set to win 2000 and dll override of MSCVRT.DLL to native only, I have not had the problem with the blank filetype extension field occur with either Debian SID or with Kanotix 20005-04. (Kanotix system has been completely upgraded to latest unstable version).

I have had problems with saving program option settings but the problem is not consistent..sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Simple changes, like changing the background colour, seem to work OK but I have only been able to set the default file location by browsing to the new location from MY_COMPUTER\Z:\~~~new location, not from N(home):\(symbolic link to new location). Perhaps TC is unable to follow links.

I agree, bronze rating is appropriate.

I have been unable to import .bmp files or pictures. I am adding this to your test results as a 'does not work' rather than making a whole new test results submission. If you can figure out how to make this work please add a correction.

TurboCAD LE - Dimensions problem
by zbf on Monday May 1st 2006, 21:45
To fix the dimensions problem use native msvcrt.dll (I used one from a win98 PC).
