What works
Gameplay.

What does not

  • The game freezes for a short (but annoying) time when doing certain stuff like using the menus. Experience shows this may also occur when there are heavy explosions or tesla shots, but I did not test that this time
  • The advertisement screen displayed on exit is displayed with inverted colours

What was not tested
There isn't that much to test in the demo.

Bug # Description Status Resolution Other apps affected
4487 SMP: C&C and Red Alert stop redrawing at random times NEW View

WARNING

The game does not run correctly on SMP PCs (more than one CPU core or HyperThreading enabled); HyperThreading can be disabled in the BIOS setup.

Another way to workaround this is to use a tool named schedtool to set the affinity of the wine process to one CPU only.

schedtool -a 0x1 -e wine RA95.exe

HOWTO
  • Change the Windows version to win98 to make the installer work
  • Run SETUP95/SETUP.EXE to install the game
  • The Windows version for 'RA95.EXE' must be set to win98
